Text analysis:
The text I choose as the teaching material for this lesson is about way of life in England, which is taken from the textbook published by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Publisher, Unit 2 in Module11. the passage focuses on the function of Modal Verbs(can/can’t, must/mustn’t, need/ needn’t) by describing the way of life in a country. Students would raise consciousness about Modal Verbs after reading the passage. And they would comprehend the usage of Modal Verbs after being guided by the teacher.
Students analysis:
The students are in Grade 7, who would learn about Modal Verbs(can/can’t, must/mustn’t, need/ needn’t) for the first time. They are assumed to have some difficulty in understanding when to use Modal Verbs.
Teaching aims:
1. Language knowledge objective: Students can understand and master the structure of Modal Verbs.
2. Language skill objective: Students can use Modal Verbs to talk about their way of life.
