VI. Teaching steps
Step 1 warm up Talk about animals. tell them that animals are in danger. Then ask them to watch the video.
Step 2 guessing game Show some pictures about animals. Then ask the students to read each sentence and guess what kind of animal it is. They should do the exercise as fast as possible. Then check answers together.
Step 3 listening First ask students to read the questions in activity 2 and get them to take notes while listening. Then listen and check the answers.
Step 4 speaking a. Show some pictures about zoos and Wolong panda reserve. Ask them to talk about if the animals are happy and why. They can have a discussion with their partner. Next, ask students to present their answers one by one.
b. show them three pictures about why animals are in danger. Try to use their own words to describe each picture. After that, work in pairs to think about some ways to solve the problems.
Step 5: reading Listen to dialogue in activity 3. List some phrases and the chinese meanings on the board. Play the recording .Ask them to listen carefully then match the phrase with correct meaning. Check them one by one.
Ask the students to read the dialogue together. Find answers in the dialogue. Then complete the table individually. Elicit answers from the class.
Divide the students into two groups. Group1 is Lingling and group2 is Betty. Read the dialogue. Next, tell them to read together.
Step6: consolidation Present some key words on board. According to the dialogue, tell them to retell the dialogue with the key words. Give them three minutes to prepare. They can have a discussion with partner if necessary. Next, pick three students to present and ask other students to listen carefully. When one finishes, Tell the other student to give some advice. At last share two sentences with students. Call on students to protect animals.
