设计思路
2011版《英语课程标准》要求初中阶段学生能够根据不同阅读目的运用简单的阅读策略获取信息，并注重教学中的人文性，而人文知识则是人文性很重要的一方面。所以本课由浅入深设计活动，从找出三个单词含义（reduce，reuse和recycle），读取关于减少、再利用和再循环的一些具体做法，引导学生思考在学校里如何节约能源、保护环境的同时，一步一步向学生渗透人文知识。就阅读具体活动而言，读前观看关于减少、再利用和再循环的视频，引出话题，并让学生对这三个单词的含义有个初步的了解。学生阅读首段，做一个小测试，看平时的一些做法是否环保，然后运用快读的方法，在关键词句的辅助下,确定三个单词的含义。教师指导学生精读，从文章中搜索作者对于如何减少、再利用和再循环提出的建议，针对作者提的建议，引导学生联系实际，思考在平时学校生活中如何从小事做起，节约能源、保护环境。在阅读文章之后，学生对环保的做法进行分类，进一步熟悉这些做法。最后以如何创建绿色学校为话题，给学生展示一些校园内不环保的现象，让学生针对这些现象，提出一些环保的建议，并以海报的形式展现，以小组为单位介绍自己的海报，向其他同学发出创建绿色校园的号召。
教材分析
本课以学生的口吻讨论中学生怎样才能节约能源、保护环境，内容贴近学生的生活实际。课文的结构非常清晰，文章开头的问题会吸引学生对这一话题的关注。接下来包括三部分，分别为：减少、再利用、再循环，结合提建议句型，介绍了一些环保的具体做法。
学情分析
授课班级学生整体英语基础一般，有部分学困生，课文中一些环保的做法理解起来有难度。因此，在阅读之前有必要联系学生生活实际，增加学生对话题的熟悉度，以便提高学生兴趣，降低学生畏难情绪。同时，采取异质小组合作来设计最终的输出活动，形成组内互助的机制来调动学生的积极性，并帮助能力较弱的孩子完成活动任务。
教学目标
知识目标1.学生能在语境下运用以下单词和短语recycle, bottle, divide…into, step, plastic，谈论有关环保的具体做法。2.学生能在语境中说出如何通过减少、再利用和再循环来节约能源和保护环境的做法。 技能目标 1.学生通过快速阅读文章，能够找出reduce、reuse、recycle的含义，并在语境中识别具体环保所属的类别。2.学生通过仔细阅读文章，能够提取出环保的具体做法。2.学生能联系实际，针对校园中一些不环保的现象，提出相应的建议。情 情 情感态度价值观 学生能从 学生能从对文章的阅读和对学校生活中不环保现象的思考，提高保护环境的自觉性。
