Unit2 Get off the sofa.
Teaching aims
Language aims:
thanks to... expect require physical effort once in a while harm

●To be able to get the main idea and specific information of the passage
●To be able to give advice on a healthy life
●To be able to analyze the organization of the passage
Emotional aims:
Make students know the safety and health are the most important things to teenagers. Let them see if they live a healthy life and try to change their ways of life.
Help them build the positive and optimistic attitude.
Teaching procedure
Step1. warming-up:
●T: Play a piece of music and ask the students if they remember. Show the photo of their activities. Ask them:” Why do we do like that ”Lead to that we want to keep healthy. And something bad often happens suddenly just like the pictures, so we should pay attention to our personal safety. In a word, we must try our best to live a safe and healthy life.
●Here are three pictures. They are from the students’ life and ask them to describe what they can see in the pictures.
● After they describe, ask them if they agree with the persons in the pictures and if they live a safe and healthy life.
Today let’s read the passage.
Step2 Skimming:
●Ask students to turn to Page50 and first look at the the title. From the title, we can know clearly the passage is about the six rules for a safe and healthy life.
●Look through the passage silently and say together what the six rules are.
● then match the pictures with the rules.
● After reading quickly, let the students think about the organization of the passage, by asking “How many parts can we divide this passage into ”
Two parts ① Part 1 (Paragraph1) It’s about why we pay attention to the healthy life.
② Part 2 ( Rule1-Rule5) It’s about how to be healthy.
Step3 Intensive reading:
●Read Part 1 (Paragraph1), answer two questions.
●Part2 ( Rule 1-Rule 5), first do the True or False Questions, then check with a partner. Show the correct answers and correct the wrong sentences. Second, answer four easy questions individually, then compare their answers with a partner. Third, ask students to fill in the blanks quickly. Check the answers by inviting group members to speak out sentence by sentence.
●Group work 1. There are three sentences from the passage. Let students discuss in groups where the sentences should be, and then tell the exact places of the sentences in each rule. (If the groups have different opinions, they can discuss in the whole class.)
●Ask the students to decide which the passage is written for.
Please tell us how they know this passage is written for teenagers. Ask them to read carefully and line down the information sentences in their opinions.
Show the students’ information sentences on the big screen.
Lead students to feel the writer’s special care on teenagers’ health.
●Group work 2.
①Work together and find out all the advice rule by rule, by using “We should/ shouldn’t…”“Don’t do...”“It’s important to do....”
② Students show what they find group by group. All the group members should stand up together and each one each sentence.
③ T shows all the advice on the big screen and ask the students to read together.
Step4 Discuss in groups:
●Discuss and design a questionnaire according to the passage about your group members' lives. ( at least)
●T gives some example sentences in the table and students can give more they are interested in.
● Then interview the other 3 members and write their answers in the questionnaire.

Step5 Writing(Homework)
Write a survey report about your discussion. Tomorrow each group should choose a reporter to show. (Give the students some key points to help them finish the report.)
Tomorrow ask the students to hand in their homework.
Today, we made a survey to see if we live a healthy life. Mary thinks ...is the most important safety rule. She eats fast food ...... She never does exercise except in the PE lesson.________________________________________________________
