The Liangzhu Museum in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, houses a treasure trove of jade, lacquerware and numerous artifacts, but what has impressed Emma Chen, a volunteer coming from the United States, the most is its black pottery collection, which shows unique symbols that some scholars think are inscriptions(碑文) from another era.
Her passion for Chinese history happened before she was majoring in Oriental studies. She learned Chinese during her college days in the US, and the interest ultimately drove her across the Pacific Ocean. Coming to China in early 2015 after graduating, she became a member of the museum’s volunteer team in2022. Chen said her frequent visits to the museum led to them making an offer. However, being a bilingual (用两种语言的) volunteer guide is not without its share of challenges. Chen has read numerous books on Chinese history and visited many museums in China to overcome problems.
For Chen, Liangzhu Museum has become “a big family” that gives her a sense of belonging. “What fascinates me even more is that the museum itself is inclusive,” she said. “It opens its arms, welcoming everyone who comes here, regardless of their background. I hope everyone can walk into museums and get a glimpse of the rich and profound history behind the cultural relics.”
Chen has visited many museums in China, such as the Yinxu Museum in Henan province and the Sanxingdui Museum in Sichuan province. But in her eyes, Liangzhu Museum is a valuable treasure that cannot be replaced because she believes every word that is written on a wall in the hall of the museum, that “Liangzhu is the most concrete proof of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization”. In 2019, the Liangzhu ruins made it to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
24.What possibly contributes to Emma Chen’s work as a volunteer
A.Diligence and enthusiasm. B.Passion and bravery.
C.Interest and generosity. D.Ambition and intelligence.
25.What does the underlined sentence actually mean in Paragraph 3

B.The museum welcomes people from all walks of life.
C.People can get a glimpse of the rich and profound history of the museum.
D.The museum opens its arms to people free of charge.
26.Why does Emma Chen regard Liangzhu Museum a precious treasure
A.The museum houses a treasure trove of jade, lacquerware and artifacts.
B.The black pottery collection leaves a deep impression on her.
C.The Liangzhu Museum can best show Chinese civilization.
D.The Liangzhu ruins made it to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
27.What’s the author’s purpose of writing the passage
A.To promote the Liangzhu Museum in Hangzhou.
B.To compare different kinds of museums in China.
C.To introduce an American volunteer for a Chinese museum.
D.To praise an American volunteer’s determination.

This summer, the eyes of the world turn to Paris to witness a global sports event — the 2024 Olympic Games. Previously, Paris hosted the Summer Olympics in 1900 and 1924. This year, the Olympics returns after a century to make Paris the second city to host three Summer Olympics after London.
Featuring 329 events across 32 sports, the 2024 Paris Olympic Games gather 10,500 athletes representing over 200 National Olympic Committees to showcase their talents. It’s worth mentioning that out of these athletes, there are 5,250 women - 50% of the athletes, while there were only 22 of them participating in the 1900 Paris Olympic Games. This may be the first Olympic Games with a completely balanced gender rate, with male and female athletes evenly distributed.
The logo for Paris 2024 combines three separate symbols — the gold medal, the flame and Marianne. Each of these symbols reflects a part of the identity and values. It is also the first time in history the same symbol pattern has been used for both the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games. Its slogan is “Games Wide Open”, reflected in every aspect of the 2024 Olympic Games. On July 26th, the opening ceremony takes place in the heart of Paris along the Seine river. This is the first time in the history of the Summer Olympics that the opening ceremony doesn’t take place in a stadium(体育场). Winding their way from east to west, the parade of athletes cross through the center of Paris, passing many iconic monuments such as the Eiffel Tower and Louvre, displaying the romance and vitality of Paris in a unique way. Meanwhile, Paris is adding its own French talent to the Olympics with this new color choice. Departing from the traditional red-brick clay color, this marks the first time in Olympic history that purple has been used for the track surface.
The 2024 Paris Olympic Games, blending history with modernity, tradition with innovation, grandly opens in the romantic capital, Paris.

Employees of the State Grid Corp of China(中国电网公司), the world’s largest utility company, are embracing the latest technological innovations to safeguard the reliable operations of the country’s power grid(电网).
For years, State Grid employees in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region have faced obvious problems in urban regions— tree barriers to urban line corridors, difficult maintenance (维护) and unexpected power outages(停电).
To solve these problems, the State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co introduced live-line operation robots in July 2022 that are designed to reduce power safety dangers by cutting down branches and removing tree barriers without interruption(中断) to the power supply.
Mi Pengpeng, who is in charge of the live-line operation team at State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power, said, “Using robots to replace traditional operations has greatly improved the quality and efficiency of obstacle clearance while reducing the safety risks and intensity of live-line operations.”
After nine months of exploration of integrating live-line operation robots with laser clearing devices, the team raised the power of a traditional laser gun from 500W to 1,500W, achieving an improved parallel, fast and precise cutting effect within 3 meters. In just two minutes, a 10 cm tree trunk can be split in half, raising work efficiency by 11.5 times, Mi said, adding that this effectively solves the long-standing difficulty faced by frontline employees in clearing tree obstacles.
Xu Chen, Mi’s colleague, noted that so far this year, the company has used live-line operation robots nearly 100 times, clearing nearly 260 tree barriers using the “robot + laser blade” technology.
Xu said that in the next stage, the company will continue to explore new technologies for intelligent distribution network replacements, gradually realizing the application of robot operations in more distribution network situations without power interruption, and speeding up the pace of intelligent distribution network replacements.
32.According to the passage, what can the live-line operation robots do
A.Innovate the last technology B.Interrupting the power supply
C.Getting rid of tree barriers D.Repair the power lines
33.What’s Mi Pengpeng’s attitude towards using robots
A.Favourable. B.Critical. C.Objective. D.Unclear.
34.What’s the function of the numbers shown in Paragraph 5 and Paragraph 6
A.To make a comparison of human and robots.
B.To display the efficiency of the robots.
C.To stress the importance of innovation.
D.To call for special attention of the government.
35.Which of the following is the best title of the passage

A hobby is anything you do in your leisure time that bring you joy or pleasure and a lot of activities fill the bill. With our busy lives, it can be challenging to find the time and energy. However, it is worth it.
36
Benefit Your Brain
In addition to protect against dementia(痴呆), hobbies improve the ability of the brain’s neural(神经元) networks to change, adapt and make new connections. 37 It may be the reason why people who play a musical instrument often do better in math. “For the brain,” adds Dr. Hafees, “it is a ‘use it or lose it’ type of situation, especially as we get older. So you always want to exercise it to keep it strong and hobbies are a really fun way to do that.”
Benefit Your Spirit
On a fundamental level, humans need meaning, something that gives them a sense of purpose. And hobbies really contribute to that. 38 When we don’t get it, all aspects of our health can suffer. Hobbies are a perfect way to find that sense of community, make new friends and catch up with old ones.
39
High stress and systemic inflammation affect every system in the body, increasing the risk of almost every type of major disease. Hobbies are a powerful antidote(解药) to stress. Doing a hobby you enjoy puts your brain into a “flow” state, characterized by alpha and theta waves. 40
Now it’s your turn: Whether you decide revive an old hobby or start up a whole new one, go find the thing that lights you up and do more of it.
A.Benefit your body.
B.Benefit for lower stress.
C.Having hobbies is an essential part of living and aging well.
D.This can help you in areas beyond just that particular skill.
E.This can help you to feel relaxed, less stressed and less anxious.
F.Perhaps the most underestimated benefit is their influence on our social well-being.
G.Making the time to do something enjoyable will make a great difference to you.

Tonny and Danial were twin and had been my next door neighbours since I was five years old. Not only did we go to the same school, but our evenings and weekends were spent together too. It was like we were inseparable. I never felt that I needed any friends other than them. Unexpectedly, one evening their parents shared the news of them moving to another country.
I was shocked to realise that now we will never be together. I started recalling all the good times we had spent together, such as playing in the school breaks, the play dates, the tricks we played and all the fun things we did. Was it all going to end
When we had been through so many highs and lows together, shared secrets and supported each other through thick and thin, their moving away felt like a part of me was being ripped away(猛力撕开). The news of their departure(离开) left me feeling empty and lost.
I was thinking about the biggest change that I was going to face in a few days. It was a difficult pill to swallow, but I knew I must move on. Though it wasn’t easy at first, I was trying my level best to beat the mental pain I was in.
After hearing the news, every day felt like a struggle, the school didn’t feel the same; the lunch breaks had no purpose. Soon there would be no one to compare the test marks with, homework remarks would not excite me like before, and so on. I couldn’t help but feel lost and alone already.

第一节 应用文体【范文】
Dear Richard,
Hope this email finds you well. Learning that you are deeply upset and troubled by what elective subjects to choose lately, I would like to share my ideas with you.
To begin with, you are supposed to ask yourself again and again and finally determine where your passion and interest lies, Physics or History. Only in your favorite field will you be able to find pleasure and accomplish great achievements. Additionally, you had better objectively analyse and compare your performances in Physics and History, and then figure out which subject you are better at. Obviously, doing what you are good at gives you a distinct advantage. Lastly and most importantly, it’s not your parents’ or classmates’ opinions but your own thoughts that play a decisive role in determining what elective subjects to choose. As a result, you have to think twice rationally and independently before making a decision.
As the famous proverb goes, interest is the best teacher. I really hope that you will find the elective subjects that you are most passionate about and make the right choice.
Yours
Li Hua
第二节 读后续写【范文】
Possible answer:
Paragraph 1: Seeing my condition, my family advised me to make the most of the time that was left before they moved. In their last ten days here, when they had quit school, we made a list of things we always planned on doing and, one by one, we did those things. We watched a movie, went out for lunch, baked a cake, and went for a picnic to a water park. We created more memories that would last a lifetime and we could look back on fondly. It was challenging to come to terms with the situation I was in, but my parents helped me realise that one way to help cope with emotions is to create memories.
Paragraph 2: When the departure day came, saying goodbye wasn’t easy. Tonny, Danial and I hugged each other tightly, unable to contain sadness with tears streaming down our cheeks. In order to relieve our pain of departure, our parents promised to keep us connected through online meetings once every week. They also encouraged sharing photos of activities we did on the weekends. All these efforts helped me regain jovial self(开心的自己), and the realisation that even when they moved so far, we could still be the closest best friends, set my heart at ease.

Text 10
I began learning Chinese when I was in high school, using a traditional method of studying words, sentence structures, and grammar. I found it easy to learn but was frustrated with the slow pace of all my Chinese classes. So I asked my teacher if I could skip a level by the end of the semester. This was unsuccessful. Because the school was unwilling to test me and prove that I could be successful at the top level after skipping a level. Then I had to be stuck in a class where I already knew the material.
Later I went on to college. I studied Chinese literature, culture, and linguistics. And I found the in-depth study of literature a very useful way to improve my Chinese. I also used my Chinese a lot outside of the classroom. I took a trip to Shanghai with a group, where I acted as an interpreter. I volunteered to be a teacher in a community school. There I used my Chinese to teach English to some Chinese speakers. It was challenging, but it was also a lot of fun. This is probably where I learned the most!
