My first day in school started by stepping onto the school bus with a bag full of books and a heart full of curiosity. It was like I was starting a new chapter (章) in my life. After travelling a long way, I stepped at the gate of my school. The school gate welcomed me with open arms and greeted me with a sense of excitement as well as nervousness.
As I entered the classroom, I found many new faces. Arranging my things on the seat, I sat next to an unknown girl, who later on turned into the best friend of my life. We even called each other sisters. I entered my class with a welcoming smile, and later on, I turned everything in with ease. During our lunchtime, the dinning hall was filled with energetic students.
At first, I was uncertain whether to communicate with them, but later on, I was a part of a group that invited me to join the table. I made many new friends and was no longer a stranger. After having delicious food and chit-chatting with friends, we got back to our respective classrooms. Different subjects such as mathematics, science, and English never left the same impression as they did on the first day of school.
The teacher taught the lessons so interestingly that we learned the chapter with a mix of laughter and learning. At the end of the day, we all went straight to the playground and enjoyed the swings. Moreover, in the playground, I also met many faces who were new to the school and had their first day in school, like me.
While returning home, I realized that my first day was not just about learning new subjects, but also about making new friends. The morning, which was full of uncertainty, at the end of the day, came to an end with exciting adventures and endless possibilities. With new experiences, I look forward to new academic (学业) and personal growth in the wonderful world of education.

Why do people travel Why do not they just stay home A good part of the environmental problems that the world faces today could be avoided if everyone would just stay home. There would be no “overtourism” and there would be no climate changes caused by transportation. I’m, of course, just guessing these things. Actually, it is hard to imagine what the world would be like if there was no travel and tourism. All we can say is that it would be a different world. We do not know if it would be a better world.
The benefits of the travel experience have long been a part of the culture of the western world. Although research results have been mixed, the belief is that the more people know about others, the greater empathy (同理心), understanding, and patience they will have. We also hold fast to the view that knowledge about the world is of great importance to the survival of our planet as we know it.
On the other hand, the fast increase in travel and tourism in many parts of the world today is also believed to have bad influence. Cross-cultural misunderstandings can possibly increase through meeting “others”. In some places, the tourism is over-developed, which brings bad experience to tourists, and at the same time, brings a lot of inconvenience to the life of local people.
From the tourists’ point of view, tourism is an act of learning about other places through direct experience. Whether or not tourists seek to be educated, the experience of another place will be kept in their memory for the rest of their life. As a traveler, there is no way to avoid that from happening. By gradually building mental (精神的) and physical links across the globe (or any small part of the globe), tourists and other travelers are taking part in a process of spreading the global consciousness (意识) of mankind.
28.How does the author introduce the topic of this article
A.By offering some solutions. B.By expressing some worries.
C.By presenting some problems. D.By showing some imagination.
29.What does the second paragraph mainly tell us about tourism
A.Its history. B.Its pleasure. C.Its advantages. D.Its development.
B.Find out lesser-known places
C.Finally, get better value by booking in advance
D.You just have to be willing to search in a wide area
E.Many ski areas have free bus services to the nearest lifts
F.To bag a cheap ski pass, look into your destination’s off season
G.Choose the airline that won’t ask you to pay for your equipment

Unknown to Rodriguez, during the chaos (混乱) of her visa cancellation, Mai a had run away. The cage meant to safely transport her to the Dominican Republic had been opened momentarily, and in a flash, Maia had rushed out, driven by an instinct to be close to her beloved owner. Rodriguez, saddened by the sudden separation, was forced to board her return flight without Maia, as border officers insisted she couldn’t delay.
The airlines and airport staff started to find Maia around-the-clock. They searched every corner of the vast airport, using night-vision equipment during the darker hours to increase their chances of finding the lost pet. Yet, days turned into weeks with no sign of Maia.
Rodriguez’s sister wanted to see her sister and Mai a reunite, and started a GoFundMe page, sharing their inseparable relationship that had been going on nearly seven years. “Maia’s escape from her cage was a testament to her forever love for Paula,” the page read. “Especially after such a stressful journey, Mai a needed to be back with her owner.”
Meanwhile, Robin Allgood, a volunteer animal recovery specialist, heard about Maia’s problem and immediately took action. She created a media page, Find Mai a Community, to find support and spread awareness. Signs were posted, and the community united together in hope.
Three weeks passed. Then good news came in the early hours of Saturday morning. A cargo worker phoned Allgood, informing her that he had spotted Maia. Excited yet cautious, Allgood rushed to the airport, passing through layers of airport staff until she received another call making sure Maia’s sighting.

第一节 【例文】
Dear Mr. Smith,
First, I would like to express my thanks for your devotion to teaching. Your special teaching method has truly made learning a joyful experience for me.
To further improve our learning environment, I have a suggestion. It would be wonderful if we could have more speaking activities, such as group discussions or role-plays, especially when exploring cultural differences and practical language usage. This would not only improve out spoken language, but also increase our confidence in using English.
I am looking forward to seeing these ideas come to life in our future lessons.
Yours,
Li Hua

The next day, Maya was flown back to the Dominican Republic. Rodriguez, who had been waiting anxiously, drove to the airport to meet Mai a without a moment’s delay. She was finally reunited with Maia at last. With hearts full of gratitude, Rodriguez and Mai a returned to their home. M: Excuse me. Have you got any books on geography
W: I’m not sure if we’ve got any now. Books of that kind are on this shelf. Well, I’m afraid we’ve sold out of them.

M: Sara, I’ve been looking forward to our yearly camp-out for three weeks. It’s going to be a wonderful day for hiking tomorrow. The great outdoors. Camping under the stars. This is the life.
W: Yeah, but Paul, I’m a little bit worried about the weather though. The weatherman said it was going to rain later tonight.
M: Ah, nonsense. Nothing can stop our adventure. Those weather reports are never right.
W: And it said there was a chance of high winds.
M: Ah, don’t worry.

W: Where shall we sit Look! There are some free seats in the corner.
M: The seats by the window are better. It’ll be cooler there and the noise from the cook won’t reach there.
W: Okay. What would you like to eat
M: I’m really hungry. I think I’ll have chicken and chips with baked beans. Why don’t you have chicken too
W: I don’t eat meat. It makes me ill. I’ll have a cheese sandwich instead.
M: And what about drinks I think I’ll have some green tea.
W: It’s three dollars sixty cents! I’ll have a coffee, it’s much cheaper.

W: You’ve been to Tokyo Disneyland several times. Can you give me any tips on getting tickets
M: The most important thing is to get your tickets early online. If you wait until a few days before you go, the tickets might be sold out.
W: How far in advance can you buy tickets
M: One month in advance. Usually tickets sell out a week or two in advance.
W: What kind of tickets do they have
M: They have 1 to 4-day passes. I think the 2-day pass is perfect if you want to cover both Disneyland and DisneySea.
W: OK. Is there a fast pass to avoid the line at the most popular rides
M: Yes, there is. You can download the amusement park’s app and book certain times for popular rides. The fast pass is free, unlike most amusement parks where you have to pay extra.
W: That’s good to know. Thanks for the tips.

For many students, getting enough sleep each night is difficult. There is too much to do and not enough time to do it, so students often try to catch up on homework when they should be sleeping. Sleep debt is the difference between how much sleep we need and how much we get. And, while we spend our weekdays working around the clock, it does harm to our bodies.
How many hours of sleep are really necessary According to experts, school-age children require 9 to 12 hours a night. Teens need 8 to 10, and adults need 7 to 9 hours nightly. It’s not hard to work out your sleep debt. Suppose you require eight hours of sleep a night, but for one week, you only slept six hours nightly. As a result, you developed sleep debt of 14 hours. Many people use short sleeps and their days off to replace lost sleep. Yet studies show that it can take up to four days to replace one hour of lost sleep and avoid its harmful effects.
