Anyone who has messy children, lazy partners or naughty flat mates will be impressed by the resourcefulness(足智多谋) of Katrina Neathey, the co-owner of a cleaning company in West Sussex. She has made her three teenagers sign an agreement to help keep the house tidy. Any infraction of the agreement, for example, littering up their bedroom with magazines and drinks, or failing to put their dirty plates in the dishwasher, will come with a5 pounds' fine(罚款) or removal of their phones.
It is one way of setting up a cleaning rota (轮班表) that people might stick to. “Cleaning is teamwork,” says Lynsey Crombie, also known as the Queen of Clean. She suggests getting everyone in the household together to find out what people like doing. “In our family, my husband is better at mowing the lawn. I love cleaning rooms. Someone else might like folding the towels. You let everybody do what they' re good at, or enjoy, so there's more chance they' ll actually do it.”
Crombie is not a fan of fines. For her children, she takes away their phones or turns off the Wi-Fi. For other adults who aren't joining in, she suggests keeping asking them to take action.
If you aren't sure what is required to keep the dirt at bay, there are many checklists online that you can print out to share the daily, weekly and monthly tasks. You can stick it on the fridge, and then everyone knows where they stand. If it's not working, have another chat, such as“What do you dislike ”“How can we improve it ” Ironing out problems is all about communication.

Joyce Loaiza lives alone in a community for older people in Florida. When she is home, the retired office worker often talks with a friendly female voice that asks about her day. A few kilometers away, the same voice helped 83-year-old Deanna Dezern when her friend died. In New York state, it plays games and music for 92-year-old Marie Broadbent. And in Washington state, it helps 83-year-old Jan Worrell make new friends.

The device looks like a small table light and it has an eyeless, mouthless head that lights up and turns. It remembers each user’ s interests and their talks, helping create a special experience with each new discussion. They can be as deep as the meaning of life or as light as a small joke. ElliQ also plays music and provides creative or spiritual sayings. Ona video screen that comes with it, it will show different cities and places of interest. The device leads exercises, asks about the owner's health, and lets the users know when to take medicines and drink water. Intuition Robotics says none of the conversations are heard by the company, with the information staying on each owner's device.
Intuition Robotics CEO Dor Skuler said the idea for ElliQ came before he launched his company eight years ago. His grandfather who lost his partner needed a helper, but the first did not work out. Skuler then thought a robot could fill the space of a friend by adapting to each person and their interests. He said, “That just did not exist anywhere.” The average user interacts with ElliQ more than 30 times a day and more than 90 percent report lower levels of loneliness, Skuler said.

Wildlife officials in Thailand carried out a plan on Wednesday to bring peace to a central city after at least 10 years of human-monkey problems.
The monkeys that live in Lopburi are a symbol of local culture and a major tourist attraction. But there have been years of dangerous interactions (互动) between humans and the monkeys. Past attempts to control the monkey population have failed. Local people and businesses say they have had enough. The monkeys often try to take food from humans, injuring them in the process.
“Officials hope to catch 2,500 of the monkeys and put them in large enclosed(围住的) places,” said Athapol Charoenshunsa, director-general of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation. The monkeys are a symbol of the province, about 140 kilometers north of Bangkok. But some experts said that the city's monkey troubles were caused by tourists and local people's feeding the animals. They say feeding them got more monkeys to enter the city in search of food.
