Teenage life is quite dramatic but that doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy your life in these years. Even with your daily troubles, your life is not very hard if you know how to deal with them.
I know exactly how you feel. Teenage life can be hard. You are not a kid anymore, because you are smart enough to consider your surroundings. However, you are still not an adult because there are still lots of experiences that you need to have and lessons that you need to learn from these experiences, Above all, the hormonal (荷尔蒙的)imbalance in your body can really mess you up. I have been there. I was in it for six years exploring what life is about!
As a teenager, I had a major problem completing my routine tasks on time. And at that time, all that I needed to do was to finish my homework, study for the upcoming tests and clean my room. Now, I have much more things to do: cooking, cleaning and working while keeping a balance between all my relationships related to work, family and friends. That really is a lot of work. So, I will just give you one golden tip, “Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today.”
Life becomes much easier now because I finish all my work on time and I have enough time to let my hair down. Half the problems of teenagers appear because we hate doing things. We’d rather go and have fun than sit down and take on our responsibilities. That is why you have so much trouble in your life; your parents won’t let you go out with friends because you haven’t cleaned your room or your teacher is always criticizing you because you haven’t finished your homework.
24. What plays a key role in making teenage life hard according to the writer
A. The physical changes. B. The lack of life experience.
C. The poor sense of balance. D. The unfamiliar surroundings.
25. How did the writer feel about her teenager life
A. It was boring B. It was simple
C. It was enjoyable D. It was difficult

Plants may tell us when they’re in trouble. Thirsty tomato and tobacco plants make clicking sounds, researchers have found. The sounds are ultrasonic (超声波的), meaning they are too high-pitched for human ears to hear. But when the sounds are transformed to lower pitches, they sound like popping bubbles (爆破的泡泡). Plants also make clicks when their stems (茎) are cut.
“It’s not like the plants are screaming.” says Lilach Hadany, an evolutionary biologist working at Tel Aviv University in Israel. “Plants may not mean to make these noises. We’ve shown only that plants create informative sounds.”
Hadany and her colleagues first heard the clicks when they set microphones next to plants on tables in a lab. The microphones caught some noises. But the researchers needed to make sure that the clicking was coming from the plants. So, the scientists placed plants inside soundproof boxes in the basement, far from the noise of the lab. There, microphones picked up ultrasonic pops from thirsty tomato plants. Though it was outside humans’ hearing range, the clicking made by plants was about as loud as a normal conversation.
Cut tomato plants and dry or cut tobacco plants clicked too. But plants that had enough water or hadn’t been cut stayed mostly quiet. Wheat, corn and grapevines also made sounds when stressed out. ______
The researchers don’t yet know why plants click. Bubbles forming and then popping inside plant tissues that transport water might make the noises. But however they happen, pops from crops could help farmers, the researchers suggest. Microphones, for example, could monitor fields or greenhouses to detect when plants need, to be irrigated (灌溉)
Hadany wonders whether other plants and insects already tune into plant pops. Other studies have suggested that plants respond to sounds. And animals from pests (害虫), moths to mice can hear in the range of the ultrasonic clicks. Sounds made by plants could be heard from around five meters away. Hadany’s team is now studying what the living things near the plants will do after hearing the sounds.
28. What can be learned from the first paragraph
A. Plants can make pop ping bubbles.
B. Plants sound when communicating.
C. Humans can’t hear the sounds made by plants.
D. Stems of plants make clicking sounds for help.
29. What may Lilach Hadany agree with
A. Plants may even scream when stressed out.
B. Plants can communicate their feelings to humans.
C. Plants may send certain messages by making sounds.
D. The sounds received from the lab were surely from plants.
30. In what way can microphones be used to benefit plants
A. Temperature monitoring. B. Timely irrigation.
C. Grass prevention. D. Pest control.
31. What is the purpose of the passage
A. To call on us to protect plants.
B. To stress the importance of plants’ making sounds.
C. To inform us of the secret of plants’ making sounds.
D. To warn us against the dangers the sounds of plants might cause.
D
Over millions of years, humans have responded to certain situations without thinking too hard. If our ancestors spotted movement in the nearby forest, they would run first and question later. At the same time, the ability to analyze and to plan is part of what separates us from other animals. The question of when to trust your instinct (直觉) and when to think slow matters in the office as much as in the savannah (草原).
Slow thinking is the feature of a well-managed workplace. Yet instinct also has its place. Some decisions are more connected to emotional responses and less to analysis. In demanding customer-service or public-facing situations, instinct is often a better guide to how to behave.
Instinct can also be improved. Plenty of research has shown that instinct becomes more accurate with experience. In one well-known experiment, volunteers were asked to assess whether a selection of designer handbags were real or not. Some were instructed to operate on instinct and others to deliberate (深思熟虑) over their decision. Instinct worked better for those who owned at least three designer handbags; indeed, it outperformed analysis. The more expert you become, the better your instinct tends to be.
However, the real reason to embrace fast thinking is that it is, well, fast. It is often the only way to get through the day. To take one example, when your inbox floods with new emails at the start of a new day, there is completely no way to read them all carefully. Instinct is what helps you decide which ones to answer and which to remove or leave unopened. Fast thinking can also help the entire organization. The value of many managerial decisions lies in the simple fact that they have been made at all. Yet as data explodes, the temptation (诱惑) to ask for one more bit of analysis has become much harder to resist. Managers often suffer from overthinking, turning a simple problem into a complex one.
When to use instinct in the workplace rests on its own form of pattern recognition. Does the decision-maker have real expertise in this area Is this a field in which emotion matters more than reasoning Above all, is it worth putting the decision off Slow thinking is needed to get the big calls right. But fast thinking is the way to stop deliberation turning to a waste of time.
32: How does Paragraph 3 mainly develop
A. By example. B. By comparison. C. By process. D. By classification.
33. Which of the following situation may be suitable for the people to trust their instinct
A. People choose one job among three.
B. The time window of making decision is unlimited.
C. The customer gets cross for uncertain reasons.
D. Anew product designed for teenagers is under discussion.
34. What does the underlined word “embrace” in Paragraph 4 probably mean
A. Include. B. Hug. C. Improve. D. Accept.
35. What can we learn from the passage
A. Managers can afford the cost of slow thinking.
B. Fast thinking can be a push to work efficiency.
C. Slow thinking will hold us back in the long run.
D. Too much data is to blame for wrong decisions.

W: Hello. This is FM98.6. It’s been another warm and fine day for most of us. Temperatures in southeast England reached 26℃ by mid-afternoon, and Brighton had fifteen hours of lovely sunshine. But the weather is already beginning to change, I’m afraid, and during the night showers will slowly move in from the Atlantic and reach southwest England by early morning. The rest of the country will have a very mild, dry night with temperatures no lower than fifteen degrees in the south, a little cooler-eleven degrees or so— in the north. And now, let’s move on to the weather forecast for Friday and the weekend. Well, southern Europe will once again get the best of the weekend weather. Scotland and Northern Ireland will have heavy rain for much of the weekend and temperatures will drop to seventeen degrees. Across most of England the weather will be cloudy but mainly dry with sunny periods. And when the sun does come out, temperatures could rise up to twenty-three degrees.
