Dear Chris,
I’m thrilled to tell you about a traditional handicraft workshop my class attended in school last
Sunday, where we explored the fascinating world of Chinese folk art.
During the session,I crafted a clay vase, which I carefully shaped with a solid base and
decorated with delicate patterns. It was my first time working with clay, and while my vase wasn’t
flawless,I felt a profound sense of accomplishment in creating it from scratch.
This experience was truly enlightening. Not only did I gain new insights into Chinese
craftsmanship, but I also realized how much patience and precision such work demands. I’m looking
forward to exploring more creative projects in the future.
Yours,
Li Hua

As I looked closer, however,I noticed that Farley was missing a leg. A knot of worry tightened
in my stomach — could a three-legged dog really perform on stage What if he couldn’t handle it,
and I ended up losing my chance to work as a stage assistant Sensing my concern,Mrs. Kelly
placed a gentle hand on my shoulder and reassured me,saying Farley was gentle and brave, which
would make him a fantastic Sandy. I nodded in agreement, though I could still feel uncertainty
tugging at the edges of my mind. The next morning,I brought Farley in front of Mr. Loomis, my
nerves building as I waited for his response.
Surprisingly,Mr. Loomis said that Farley was going to be fantastic onstage. It turned out that
he was right. During the rehearsal,Farley stayed calm, never barking or running around like the
other dogs. He seemed to understand his role perfectly, providing quiet comfort to Kayla’s
character, just as he had done with nervous passengers at the airport. Farley charmed us with his
three-legged stride and gentle movements, capturing our hearts through a soothing presence that
touched everyone. When the rehearsal ended,we burst into applause. At that moment,I realized that
the perfect Sandy wasn’t defined by how he looked, but by how he made others feel.

and hard work.”,故选 A。
25. B 推断。从第五段“For one thing,it leads us directly to a depressing hothouse culture. If
hard work and achievement are joined by a straight line, why ever pause for a rest You
think of today’s exam-burdened schoolchildren, their leisure hours packed with improving
activities, who increasingly complain of mental health issues.”
26. A 推断。从第六段“For another,the idea rules out the chance a champion could emerge a
little later in life, from a group that wasn’t obsessively coached from birth by
resource-rich parents. This, too,is a lesson of the Olympics. Talent matters, and it can
come from anywhere.

36. B 根据上下文,尤其是“Your audience is made up of recruiters and hiring managers, who
spend an average of 7.4 seconds skimming a job application.”
37. C 根据后文“Use a clean,simple format and avoid fancy fonts…”
38. F 选项 F“简历的内容应当包括你过往经历中最精华的部分”与“Anyone’s CV can fit on
39. E 从第四段“Life happens and sometimes people take time off;”和“So might constant
job-switching,which is as much of a red flag to recruiters.”
40. A 从前面一句“Your life,he implied,should illustrate an acute awareness of the outside
world.”以及后文“So as you launch yourself into the job market, always be aware of

W:Hello everyone. This is Face-to-Face from Radio 1. With us today is the great tennis player
Roger Federer. Welcome,Mr. Federer.

tennis career last
M:Well,I picked up tennis when I was 3 and turned professional at the age of 17.
W:What’s your most unforgettable match in your professional tennis career
M: It was the 2017 Australian Open. At that time,I hadn’t trained for almost 6 months because of
a severe knee injury. I had an operation and it took me a long time to recover. I hadn’t expected
that I would make it to the final and win the title.
W:Amazing! How did you do that
M: I guess it was my firm belief and desire to win. As I always say,if you believe, you can go
really far in your life.
Text 10
M: As a young child,I always enjoyed physical challenges more than mental ones. I liked to run and
build swings. At that stage I hadn’t yet learned to climb or swim, but I would have loved to try
those too. One day we had a physical education class at school. We did the long jump and
handstands, but it was when I tried to do a forward roll that disaster struck. Somehow,I twisted
my neck in an extremely painful way. I screamed loudly and the teachers were very concerned.
An ambulance was called and I was taken to hospital. The doctors fitted me with a collar and I
was told to avoid exercise and stay away from school for eight weeks. At first,I was very bored.
Having to keep still all day was no fun. So I started to read. I looked at books on the shelf at
home. I wasn’t interested in love stories — I avoided those — but crime and adventure did
appeal to me. During those eight weeks I developed a lifelong love of reading. When my collar
was removed, the doctors told me not to exercise for another four weeks. Instead of being
disappointed,I was happy to devote more time to my new love — reading.
