常用的信号词有: but/yet/however/nevertheless;?while/whereas;??otherwise/or else; unlike/instead/ rather than; by contrast/compared to; on the contrary/ on the other hand 等。
常用的定义信号词有: be defined as/be termed( 被定义为 ) , ??be called ( 被称为 ) , mean/ refer to/be( 意指,是 ) 。

It became popular very quickly even though it was very hard to chew. ② Nowadays, other things are added to the gum to make it soft and sweet.
By 1890, there were hundreds of different chewing gums. The most famous name in chewing gum, however, is probably William Wrigley. He spent a lot of money in advertising and even sent free pieces of gum to children on their birthdays. ③ He also said that chewing gum helped people work better and that it stopped people from feeling tired.
Although today many millions of people chew gum, not everyone thinks it is a good thing to do. Many people think it is dirty. The Singapore government does not allow people to buy chewing gum. It's important to develop the healthy habits in your daily life. The following will help you become healthier and keep perfect shape.
Eat properly. A healthy diet is very important for everybody. Breakfast is the most important meal in a day. Doctors suggest that students’ breakfast should include fruit, eggs, milk, rice or noodles, because these can offer them necessary energy, help them listen carefully in class and keep them healthy. Eat enough for lunch and little for supper. But remember that too much sugar is bad for your teeth and blood. You shouldn't have too many sweet snacks and desserts in your diet, even though such food tastes delicious.
Keep off germs(病菌). Daily tooth cleaning reduces the amount of germs which will spread diseases. Germs in the mouth are likely to enter the blood and cause illness, even heart disease. Even if you’ re not sick, always remember to cough or sneeze into your arms instead of your hands because hands can spread germs to others when you touch something else. Besides, washing hands is necessary after going to the toilet or before having a meal. And you'd better rub both hands while washing them.
Exercise regularly. Regular exercise can improve your moods and balance. Wha’s more, it’s good for bones. There are many forms of exercise: walking or running for about 30 minutes a day playing ball games twice or three times a week, swimming or dancing often. You can choose your favorite to practise regularly. You will not only feel energetic but also think better after doing exercise.

Therefore, as a result, thus, hence, in short, to sum up, to conclude, in a word等词语,选项中也可发现前文的同义词句。

[1]Sweden's program of producing energy from rubbish is so successful, but recently its success has also produced a surprising problem: There is simply not enough rubbish in this country. It has been reported that only 4% of their rubbish goes into landfills The rest 96% is recycled or more recently being re-used as fuel(燃料) in their waste-to-energy factories that are able to deal with up to 2 million tons of rubbish every year. And this situation has made Sweden face the serious and special problem mentioned above.
[2] Sweden has recently begun buying much waste every year from other countries, such as Norway, Bulgaria, Romania and Italy. These countries depend heavily on landfills. In the United States, where 250 million tons of rubbish was produced in 2010 alone, only about 34% was recycled. As a result, more than half of their waste ends up in landfills.
[3] Sweden is now paid by Norway to take its waste away. Sweden not only gets money from other countries but also changes the waste into energy in Sweden, which provides electricity and heating for so many homes. It’s a win-win situation. Clever!
[4] Sweden is leading the way in waste management, but it is one of few. Most countries’ technology in dealing with waste needs improving. We live in a world that is full of rubbish like plastic bags and beer bottles. Sweden’s waste management offers a look into the future where countries can make money from their rubbish-and not just put it in the ocean or put it in landfills.

What should we do in our daily life to stop wasting food? We can do many things to prevent it from happening. Here are some tips:
Don’t order too much food in a restaurant. Only order as much as you want to eat. If you cannot eat all the food you order, take the rest of it home.
