How to write a secret message
Do you want to write a message that can only be read by a person It is a secret message for that person only. The other people can't see the message on the paper. Only that person knows how to make the message appear. Here's an experiment on how to write such a message.
You'll need
half a lemon a cup four spoons of water
a cotton swab(棉签) white paper a light bulb
What to do
1.Squeeze（挤）some lemon juice into water.Mix the water and juice.
2.Put the cotton swab into the mixture and make it wet. Use the wet cotton swab to write some words on the paper.
3. Let the paper dry. Show it to someone and ask if he or she can see the words on the paper.
4. Hold the paper close to a light bulb to heat it. Ask him or her again.

Lemon juice has chemicals that have carbon(碳). The chemicals break down easily when they are heated. And the carbon makes them turn a dark color.

The monster statues(怪兽雕像) in the Forbidden City(紫禁城) come alive! They can move and talk. They even have their own languages. Li Xiaoyu, an 11-year-old student, joins them on an adventurous(惊险的) journey.
This cartoon story comes from the book series(系列)Monsters in the Forbidden City. There are many special things in the cartoon. It has real actors. Li Xiaoyu becomes a monster and gets into the world of monster statues. There are red walls, yellow roofs（房顶），and water-ink paintings.
The books' writer is Chang Yi. When Chang was a little girl, she often heard stories of monsters in the Forbidden City from older people. She also read about them in some books. Interested in these monsters, she kept reading to find out more about them in ancient books.

Fan Jinshi: Daughter of Dunhuang
The Mogao Grottoes are a very special place in China, which stand in Dunhuang, Gansu Province.The Mogao Grottoes are thousands of years old and were listed as a world cultural heritage （遗产） by UNESCO in 1987.
Many people, including archaeologists（考古学家）and researchers, work hard to take care of the Mogao Grottoes and learn more about them. Fan Jinshi is one of them.
Fan was born in Beijing on July 9, 1938. Her father was a graduate of Tsinghua University and had a strong interest in Chinese classical arts and culture.
Influenced by her father, Fan liked visiting museums when she was in middle school. With the great love of Chinese culture, she studied in the archaeology department in Peking University and graduated in 1963. Then she started working at Dunhuang and has worked there ever since. She spends almost 60 years taking care of Dunhuang. People call her the "Daughter of Dunhuang."
On May 4, 2023, "Daughter of Dunhuang" Fan Jinshi returned to Peking University and brought back 10 million RMB donations to set up the Fan Jinshi Education Fund to support the research of Dunhuang Studies at Peking University.
