I was taught at a young age to be afraid rather than to experience life. Don’t ride a bike because you might get hit by a car. Don’t swim because you might drown. That’s why I was initially afraid to approach others. They might say no— how could I live with that rejection(拒绝)
A book changed me. Near the end of the book, the writer suggested trying out what I had just read but to pretend it was like the training game in a sport— when the games didn’t count. When my teams would lose formal games, I couldn’t bear to watch. But when they lost in the training game, I didn’t care.
I don’t know why the suggestion resonated with me. But I knew this new way of thinking worked for me. It gave me power to know the results didn’t matter because this was the exhibition game when I was practicing what I had learned before the real games started.
I discovered there were other ways to use this new tool. It allowed me to have a successful sales career, even though I heard the word “no” hundreds of times. It was part of the business, but I didn’t let it get me down. I turned a negative into a positive by reasoning that every time I heard the word “no”, it meant I was one step closer to “yes”. It’s amazing how powerful you feel when you remove the fear that stops you from going after what you want in life.
I still do my sales job, and we have a lot of high-school and college students working at the company. I will pass on the advice that I learned many years ago and encourage them to use that idea for whatever they want to achieve.
24.How was the author’s character when he was young
A.Helpful. B.Outgoing. C.Unsociable. D.Confident.
25.Which of the following may the book writer agree with
A.The training games are also important.
B.Whatever the game is, it doesn’t count.
C.Don’t worry about life’s gains and losses.
D.Just have a try and don’t care about the results.
26.What does the underlined word “resonated” in paragraph 3 mean
A.Agree. B.Meet. C.Fight. D.Deal.
27.What does the author think of rejections in his work
A.Positive results. B.Steps to success.
C.Excuses to escape. D.Unbeatable strikes.
C
A recent study drawing on 28 years of data has proved the old saying: There’s no such thing as a free lunch. In the study, scientists found that dolphin mothers that interact(互动)with boaters have nearly twice as many babies as female dolphins that stay away. But those babies are nine times more likely to die before reaching adulthood. The number one cause of their death in Sarasota Bay is associated with sport fishing. That high death rate poses a problem for the population as a whole.
In the United States, feeding dolphins is illegal under the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, but it still happens often. Even though we might not mean to, with just our presence, we’re conditioning animals to be around humans more. That closeness increases a dolphin’s risk of being struck by a boat, trapped in a fishing line, or caught by a fishing hook.
Dolphins are smart and social animals and their begging has motivations. Getting fish from people instead of hunting could allow female dolphins to save time and energy that they can instead put toward reproduction. It makes sense that the dolphins eating up bait(诱饵), getting fish from a fisher’s line, and approaching boats for food can have more babies. However, studies of other species around the world, such as green sea turtles in the Bahamas, show that animals that become dependent on human handouts stop hunting for food. This is true of Sarasota Bay’s dolphins, and it’s a preference that they pass on. Dolphins from one family have been approaching boats for four generations. That behavior is even more dangerous for the youngsters— little dolphins can be killed by boats or fishing equipment as they try to stay close to their moms.
For these dolphin mothers, losing multiple babies one by one likely causes emotional distress. Over time, this stress on female dolphins and the deaths of so many babies could cause population numbers to fall.
We can’t stop the dolphins from interacting with humans. But we can teach people to enjoy wild animals from a safe distance. And for dolphins’ own good, stop giving them food.
28.What can we learn about female dolphins interacting with humans from the text
A.They bear more baby dolphins.

A.To make sense of their life.
B.To keep the unique relation with humans.
C.To reduce their reproduction.
D.To save time and energy.
30.What suggestion does the author make to us
A.Stop sport fishing.
B.Stop feeding dolphins.
C.Stop hunting dolphins for food.
D.Stop dolphins from interacting with humans.
31.What can be the best title for the text

B.Enjoy wild animals closer

The 2026 World Cup final will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, organizers FIFA announced on Sunday. The New York held off a strong challenge from Dallas to win the July.19 game, the culmination(高潮)of the expanded 48-team tournament(锦标赛)being co-hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico.
The competition will kick-off with the opening game at Mexico City’s iconic Azteca Stadium on June 11.Atlanta and Dallas will host the semi-finals while the third-place game will be played in Miami. The quarter-final games will take place in Los Angeles, Kansas City, Miami and Boston. A total of 16 cities across the three countries will host games, while most of the matches will be held in the US.
The New York had lobbied(游说)hard on the city’s experience at hosting major international events and its position as a global city with easy transportation connections for fans. There is some compensation for Dallas with the spot being given nine total games— the most of any spot. Los Angeles had also thrown a hat into the ring, but the attempt struggled among disagreements with FIFA about tournament upgrades needed to National Football League playground, SoFi Stadium. The Azteca will become the first stadium to host the World Cup tournament games in three separate editions after 1970 and 1986.
The World Cup will take place during celebrations of the 250th anniversary of American independence. A round-of-16 game will be held on July 4, Independence Day, in Philadelphia, where the US Declaration of Independence was signed.
The expansion of the tournament to 48 teams from 32 means there will be an additional24 matches, making up 104 games across the 16 chosen playgrounds. The tournament will take 12 groups, with the top two going through and the eight best third-placed teams. From there, the competition is a straight knock-out format until the champion is determined.
32.Which city will hold most matches
A.Los Angeles. B.Azteca. C.New York. D.Dallas.
33.What made Los Angeles fail to host the 2026 World Cup final
A.Its stadium doesn’t agree with the FIFA requirement.
B.It isn’t a global city with easy transportation connections.
C.It has hosted the World Cup games in three separate editions.
D.It has no experiences in hosting major international events.
34.What can we learn about the Azteca Stadium from the text
A.It will host the first game of the tournament.
B.It is located in New Jersey of the United States.
C.It will host the fourth World Cup tournament game.
D.It will celebrate its 250th anniversary during the tournament.
35.How many teams will advance to the second stage

Diaries are wonderful objects that allow you to discuss your emotions(情感), record dreams or ideas, and recall daily life in a safe, private space. 36 , there are some basic tricks you can use to get the most out of your writing. If you aren’t sure what to write about, using prompts(提示)like inspirational quotes can help get started on new entries.
37 . Think about everything that happened that day and record any highlight or feeling that stands out to you. Even if you had a pretty standard day, you might be surprised by deeper thoughts and feelings that come up as you write details about your day.

Put down your current feelings or emotions. 39 . Instead, just focus on exactly describing what they are. You can then use those feelings and thoughts as prompts for creating detailed diary entries. Work on one thought or emotion at a time and explore it as fully as you can.
Explore your favorite subjects or hobbies in-depth. Make a list of topics that you love or your favorite hobbies. You might love movies, sports, food, travel, art, or fashion. The subjects can be anything you want, as long as they interest and inspire you. 40 .

From Lemonade Stand to Dreamland: the Boy Who Built a Home
Thirteen-year-old Ethan was no ordinary kid. While his peers were lost in video games, he managed a lemonade stand near the trailer(活动房屋)park he called home with his mother. His stand was simple—a table, a huge bottle, and a sign— but it was the cornerstone of his dream to improve his mother’s life.
Ethan’s mother worked tirelessly at several jobs to make ends meet. Their trailer was old and worn, but Ethan determined to provide her with a real house, free from worries of various house problems. He saved every penny from his lemonade sales in a box under his bed, calling it “House Fund”. Every day, he imagined it growing big enough to make his dream come true.
Ethan’s determination led him to seek additional ways to earn money. He cleaned shoes, washed windows, and assisted the elderly with groceries. Despite his long days, Ethan never let his schoolwork slip. He knew that doing well in school was key to a better future, and he dreamed of attending college one day, though he knew that the dream was even further out of reach than the house. Still, he held onto it, just as tightly as he held onto his belief that hard work would pay off someday.
One hot summer afternoon, while Ethan was manning his lemonade stand, a man in a black car pulled up. Dressed in a sharp suit, he stepped out and walked over to the stand. He seemed out of place in the run-down neighborhood, but his warm smile put Ethan at ease.
Over a glass of lemonade, he learned of Ethan’s wish to buy his mom a house. He was impressed by Ethan’s ambition and offered him a hundred-dollar bill, calling it an investment(投资)in his future. He wasn’t just generous; he sent tutors to help Ethan with his studies. With their guidance, Ethan’s grades improved dramatically, including his confidence.

1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Years passed, and Ethan’s hard work paid off. One bright morning, Ethan stood with his mother in front of a beautiful new house.

M: Well, it shouldn’t be too difficult. Everyone will be overjoyed that all their exams are finally over. We just need to ensure good music.
W: No, we should plan something truly special. What if we ask everyone to dress up as famous characters from films
M: But it might be challenging for everyone to find appropriate costumes.
W: Well, perhaps you’re right. In that case, what other ideas do you have
M: We could plan some entertaining games and activities.
W: Alright, let’s discuss the games tomorrow. For now, let’s focus on the food. How about we offer a variety of options like bread rolls or fried chicken
M: Why not have a selection of different kinds of pizza It’s popular with everyone.
W: Great idea.

Designed to celebrate cultural diversity and foster a sense of community through the arts, the festival will feature a range of artistic competitions, from music and dance to visual arts. It’s a great chance for us to engage with different cultures and talents.

Years passed, and Ethan’s hard work paid off. His lemonade stand was good, attracting more customers with its refreshing drinks and Ethan’s good manners. With the help of tutors, Ethan excelled in his studies, even winning scholarships that further fueled his “House Fund”. He continued his sideline, expanding them to include babysitting and lawn mowing, always saving diligently. He earned a scholarship to a college and after graduating with honors, he quickly found success in the business world. But through it all, he never forgot his promise.
One bright morning, Ethan stood with his mother in front of a beautiful new house. It wasn’t a mansion, but it was perfect— solid, warm, and filled with love. As they stepped inside, his mother’s eyes were filled with tears of joy. “I told you I’d build a house for you,” Ethan said, his voice thick with emotion. “Mom, this is for you. No more leaks, no more creaky floors. Welcome home, Mom.” As they stepped inside, Ethan knew that his journey was far from over, but with every obstacle overcome, his belief in the power of hard work grew stronger.
