1. But I’m not sure whether I can cook it well.

这是一个 whether 引导的宾语从句,whether 在这里
可以和 if 互换。但当 whether 引导的从句后有引导
的从句后有 or not ,此时就不能和 if 连用。
e.g. I don’t know whether he will come or not.
我不知道他会不会来。
2. I’m glad that you are trying to help others.
我很高兴你尽力去帮助别人。
1 )be glad (adj.) + that( 宾语从句) 高兴……;
e.g. I’m glad that you will come. 我很高兴你能来。
类似的句型还有
be+afraid(adj.) + that( 宾语从句) 恐怕……;
be sure(adj.) + that( 宾语从句) 确保……。
2 )help others 帮助别人;
3 )try to do sth. 尝试做某事;

to do… 或 Will you please + do…
另外,would like sb. to do sth., 这里 would like 是动

此句是称赞别人很好,也可说:You are very kind.

1)cooked 在此处是过去分词,相当于形容词,作定
语和表语均可以,表示“煮好的,煮熟的”。类似用
法还有:lost ,broken ,closed 等。
e.g. At last they found the lost boy.
最后他们找到了走失的男孩。
2)cut...finely 意思是“精细地把……切小”。副词修
饰动词通常放在动词后面。
本课类似的还有:fry the meat lightly 轻轻地炒一炒
肉;add the rice slowly 慢慢地加入米饭。
e.g. Can you cut the beef finely 你可以把牛肉切细吗?
