Western Australia is the largest of all Australian states, occupying 1/3 of the total area of Australia. In fact, it is the second largest country subdivision in the world, surpassed(超过) only by Russia’s Sakha Republic. The state has about 2.7 million inhabitants in 2019, most of whom live in the Perth area. There are a lot of desert and salt lakes in Western Australia, and it is known for primitive(原始的) scenery.
