How precious are our pandas
Our children and grandchildren should be able to see real pandas not just pandas in photographs.
Su Yupeng: If we didn't protect endangered animals many of them would die out. Life is priceless and should never be just about money. We need to do whatever it takes to protect the endangered animals.
Huang Silu: Animals are friends; they bring us great joy. When I was a child, my parents often took me to the zoo. I still remember how happy I was. However, nowadays more and more animals are becoming extinct (灭绝的). Maybe they will not be here in the future, and that would be a great loss (损失).
Liu Huimin: More and more animals are threatened['θret( )n](威胁) with extinction nowadays. If we don't take immediate [ 'mi d t]（立即） action, they might die out. There would be no zoos and no parks. Our children and grandchildren could only know about the animals from pictures.
Why waste time and effort on trying to save animals that probably can't be saved
Wang Chenlu: It takes a lot of time and money to protect animals and there is no certainty our efforts will be successful. I think we should spend more money on studying how to prevent their extinction.
Meng Hong: We have to admit (承认) the fact that despite our efforts to protect animals, sometimes we are having no effect. Many animals have become extinct because human beings broke the balance (平衡) of nature, and now we are seeing the consequences (后果) of that. The irony (讽刺) is that to protect the animals we also have to intervene (干预) in nature.
Wu Tingting: We've been cutting down trees and polluting the air for a long time. If our efforts to protect endangered animals were going to be successful we would have seen it by now. It seems likely our efforts have been in vain (徒劳).
