Many things can cause driving accidents. You can’t control(控制) all of them, but the following steps can help you to cut down on the number of accidents while driving.
Step one: Look where you’re going. That was the first thing my father told me to do when he started teaching me to drive. By doing this, you can see if the road is clear.
Step two: Keep as much space as you can between your car and other cars. This is your zone of safety1. If you are traveling at a speed2 of 10 miles per hour, it is wise to leave at least one car length between your car and the car ahead of you. In heavy traffic, it is difficult to leave that much space between cars. But you should try to keep enough distance between your car and the car ahead of you.
Step three: Before you change roads, turn your head all the way around to see everything around you.
Step four: Be careful in bad weather. Always turn your headlights on as this will help you to see other cars as well as help them to see you.
Step five: Be polite all the time. Even if some drivers make you angry, don’t shout at them. You will probably never see them again, and your actions will have no influence on how they will behave in the future.
