Brian：I want to be a boss and manage a big company. I could make a
lot of money.
Presentation
Jenny：Well，I don’t doubt you would be a good boss, but I don′t
think wealth is the most important thing in life. We should do
things we enjoy. You like painting，and you are good at it.
Brian：That′s true. Perhaps I can be a painter. How about you, Steven
Steven：Me I’d like to be a transportation engineer. I would invent
things that help improve the environment. Maybe I could
invent a solar powered plane.
Kate：That’s a cool idea! I think I would enjoy being a cook. I love
cooking, and I like creating new dishes myself.
Danny：Great! I’ll go to your restaurant! As for me, I’m going to
choose the most fun and exciting job in the world. I’m going
to be an astronaut!
Brian：Astronauts need to know a lot about science, Danny. Science
isn’t your best subject in school. I think you should be a
basketball player.
Danny：Hmm...I think I’m going to be an astronaut, but maybe I can
play basketball in the spaceship！

1. What should you do now if you want to make your dream come true？如果你想实现梦想，现在你应该做什么呢？
(1) come true意为“实现；(愿望、梦想等)成真”。
※ Our dream will come true sooner or later.
我们的梦想迟早会实现的。
与 come 有关的短语：
come back 回来 She will come back in a few minutes.
她几分钟后就会回来。
come from 来自 The boy comes from Beijing.
这个男孩来自北京。
come by 走过；经过 They come by a bookstore.

2. I want to be a boss and manage a big company. 我想成为一名老板，运用一家大公司。
（1）manage意为“管理，负责，应付”，后跟名词、代词。
※Peter manages a store in the town.
彼得在镇里经营一个店铺。
（2）manage to do sth. 设法做成某事。
※Mr. Baker managed to find a place where he could park his car.
贝克先生设法找到了可以停车的地方。
（3）management n.管理，经营 ；manager n.经理；管理者
※ He's responsible for the management of the company.
他负责公司的经营管理。
※Her father is a middle manager in a computer company .
她爸爸是一家计算机公司的中层管理者。
3. I don’t doubt you would be a good boss。你将会是一位优秀的老板，这一点我深信不疑。
doubt 作动词，意为“怀疑”，其用法：
（1）后常接名词、代词或宾语从句。
※ I never doubt you; you are an honest boy.
我从不怀疑你，你是诚实的男孩。
（2）doubt后接宾语从句时，如果主句是肯定句，用if、whether 连接；如果主句是否定句或疑问句时，用that连接。在这样的结构中，doubt的意思是“怀疑，不相信，不信任，不能肯定，对……没准”。
※ I doubt if / whether he is clever.
我怀疑他是否聪明。
※ I don′t doubt that he will be successful.
我肯定他会成功。
（3） doubt 在肯定句中也可接that 引导的宾语从句，此时它的意思是“认为……未必可能”。
※ I doubt that Danny will be a good boss. 我看丹尼未必会当个好老板。
doubt作名词时，常用的固定搭配有：be in doubt不确定，no doubt 无疑，很可能。
※ There is no doubt at all that he did the right thing. 毫无疑问他做得对。
※ The success of the system is not in doubt. 这种制度的成功确定无疑。
4. I would invent things that help improve the environment. 我会发明有助于改善环境的事物。
invent为动词，意为“发明” ；invention为名词，意为“发明，发明物”，inventor 为名词，意为“发明家”。
※ He has invented a new way of making silk.
他已发明了一种制造丝绸的新方法。
※I saw many inventions on show. 我看到了许多展出的发明物。

辨析 find，discover 与 invent
find 找到，侧重于找到过去丢失的人或物，但有时也表示凭经验或偶然发现了一种东西。 They dug five feet and then found water.
他们挖了5英尺便发现了水。
discover 指“发现，找到”某种自然界本已存在，但以前不被人类发现或认识的事物。 Columbus discovered America in 1492.
哥伦布于1492年发现了美洲。
invent 指“发明，创造”出自然界本来不存在的东西。如工具、方法、手段等。 Mr. Smith invented a new teaching method.
史密斯先生发明了一种新的教学方法。
5. As for me, I’m going to choose the most fun and exciting job in the world. 至于我，我要选择世界上最有趣和最激动人心的工作。
as for 的用法：
（1） 用于转换话题：as for 用来引出新的谈话内容，但与前面内容也有一定的联系，起到补充前文，又突出后文的作用。使之与前文形成对照。
※You can go now, but as for the children, they can′t go.
你现在可以走了，但是至于这些孩子，他们不能走。
（2）用以表示态度：as for还可用于表示说话人对某人或某物特有的“轻蔑”或“冷淡”的态度，甚至有憎恶之感。
※As for Mary, I never want to see her again.
至于玛丽嘛，我再也不想见到她了。
as to 关于，用以重提旧事，提出问题。还可用以引出做事的依据，意为“按照，依据”。而 as for 则没有此用法。
6 As for me, I’m going to choose the most fun and exciting job in the world. 至于我，我要选择世界上最有趣和最激动人心的工作。
choose为动词，意为“选择”。choose from意为“在……中选择”；choose between意为“在……之间选择”；choose to do sth.意为选择做某事。
※For pudding we could choose between ice cream and apple tart.
甜点我们可以选冰激凌或者苹果馅饼。
※You can choose from a wide range of vehicles.
你可以从多种交通工具中作选择。
※ He chose to go to the Great Wall. 他选择去了长城。
choice n．选择，抉择　常用的搭配有：make a choice 做出选择，have no choice but to do sth.除了做某事以外，别无选择。
※She had to make a choice between the two dresses.
她不得不在这两件连衣裙中选择一件。
※ I have no choice but to face the fact.
除了面对现实，我别无选择。
