　 Good morning. I’m very happy to be here today. It is a great honour to be invited to speak to you and to wish you well in the future. On my way to the hall just now, I stopped by some of your classrooms and read the notes you left for one another. Some of them made me laugh and some almost brought tears to my eyes. All of you have some great memories of this period of your life，and so do I!
Presentation
Time has gone by quickly. Three years have already passed. You had valuable experiences in the past and you have bright futures ahead of you. I know all of you have your own dreams. Whatever you want to be，you need to work hard to achieve it. And I do think you will.
Sometimes life is not easy. At times it can be very hard. No matter how high you rise, there will be times when you fall down. When this happens，remember this：there is no such thing as true failure. Failure is an opportunity to try something new. Pick yourself up and take a new road. Remember to be
brave. Remember to be your best. And always remember that you have your family and friends to support you.
At last, on behalf of all the teachers, I’d like to give our best wishes and congratulations to the graduating class！

1. Ms. Liu’s Speech 刘老师的演讲
speech意为“言语，讲话，演讲”。
※We express our thoughts by speech.
我们用言语表达思想。
※ She will give a speech to the students this Sunday.
这个周日她将给学生们作演讲。
辨析 speech，lecture，report 与 talk
speech 普通用词，指一般的发言或讲话，可以是事先准备的，也可以是即席的。指政治家等作的发言、演说。
lecture 指教授等作的教育性或学术性的演讲。
report 一般是指下级给上级或负责人给委托机关的书面或口头报告。
talk 强调非正式的演讲、报告，讲话方式一般较为自由。

他昨天去听了关于美国文学的演讲。

on one′s way to意为“在某人去……的路上”。

own作形容词时，意为“自己的”。常用在形容词性物主代词后面；作动词时，意为“拥有”；owner 为名词，意为“物主，所有权人”。
※ We see it with our own eyes. 我们亲眼看见它。
※ We don′t own our flat— we rent it.我们的公寓不是自己的——我们租的它。
※ Are you the owner of that dog 你是那只狗的主人吗？
与own有关的短语：on one′s own 独自，在句中作状语。of one′s own 属于某人自己的。

4. Whatever you want to be，you need to work hard to achieve it. 无论你想成为什么，都需要努力去实现它。
achieve 意为“完成，实现，达到”。achievement 为名词形式意为“成就，成绩；达到；完成”。
※ After many years of hard work, Deng Yaping finally achieved success.
多年努力后，邓亚萍最终获得了成功。
※ I felt a great sense of achievement when I reached the top of the mountain.
当我到达山顶时，我感到一种巨大的成就感。
辨析 achieve 与 come true
achieve是及物动词，后加宾语。 If you work hard，you will achieve your dream.如果你努力工作，你就会实现你的梦想。
come true是不及物动词短语，后不加宾语。 If you work hard，your dream will come true.如果你努力工作，你的梦想就会实现。
5. No matter how high you rise, there will be times when you fall down. 无论你爬得多高，总会有跌倒的时候。
fall意为“落下”。作为动词，常见的短语：
fall down 跌倒，失败 His plan has fallen down.
他的计划已经失败了。
fall off 从……摔下来 He fell off his bike.
他从自行车上摔了下来。
fall over 摔倒 He fell over and cut his knee yesterday.
昨天他摔倒了，划破了膝盖。
fall behind 拖欠，落后 Work hard, or you’ll fall behind.

6. Pick yourself up and take a new road. 振作起来，走一条新的路。 pick up的意思：
捡起，拾起 Your wallet fell onto the floor. Pick it up.
你的钱包掉在地上了，把它捡起来。
搭载，接人，让人乘车 The train stopped several times to pick up passengers.
火车停了好几次，让乘客上车。
学到，获得 He picked up the skills quickly.
