Not long ago, few little girls had dreams of becoming astronauts(宇航员). For years in the United States, only men could become astronauts. In1983, that changed. Sally Ride became the first American woman to travel into space.
Ride became interested in space when she was a kid. She grew up in Los Angeles and studied physics and English at Stanford University. In 1978, Ride joined NASA's astronaut training program. In 1983, Ride went into space for the first time. A year later, Ride travelled into space for the second time.
