一、Teaching Aims 1. Emotional aims Students will enhance their cultural awareness and respect for different festivals and cultures. Students will develop a positive attitude towards celebrating festivals and sharing happiness with families. 二、Core Competencies Cultivation 1. Language ability: By reading and discussing the text, students improve their reading comprehension and language expression skills. 2. Cultural awareness: Through learning about different autumn festivals in China and Canada, students broaden their horizons and understand cultural diversity. 3. The two emails present different festivals and ways of celebration, providing rich language input and cultural background. The text not only helps students improve their language skills but also enables them to compare and appreciate cultural differences. 四、Student Analysis Students in grade eight have certain language foundations and are able to understand simple English texts. They are curious about different cultures and have a certain interest in festivals. However, they may have difficulty expressing complex ideas in English and need more guidance and practice in language output. 五、Teaching Methods 1. Email 2: Ask students to read Jenny's email carefully and answer the questions: Where will Jenny go on Thanksgiving Day When is Canadian Thanksgiving Check the answers and explain the cultural background of Thanksgiving in Canada. Step 4: Post-reading (10 minutes) 1. Group discussion: Ask students to work in groups and discuss the following questions: How are Mid-Autumn Festival and Thanksgiving similar and different Why do people celebrate festivals 2. Share and report: Each group selects a representative to share their group's opinions with the class. Step 5: Language practice (10 minutes) 1.
