We often hear of people making long journeys to different parts of the world. However, the biggest journey one can make is within oneself - the self-discovery journey. 1 Here are some things you can do.
It is always more comfortable to be on familiar ground. 2 It could be trying out a rock climbing activity that you’re afraid of or breaking the ice with a new classmate even though it makes you nervous. This will give you a chance to see how you feel, think and react(反应) when challenged.
You should find out what you value about yourself. 3 For example, you have the ability to communicate with everyone or you can play soccer really well. This will give you a better understanding of the personal values or abilities you hold dear.
4 Especially when you are in a foreign country where people may not share your ideas or culture, you have to rethink your own ideas about something.
Ask yourself who you want to be and what your true purpose in life is. 5 They will allow you to reflect on your life goals.
The self-discovery journey is long but meaningful. As Arianna Huffington said, “The journey towards self-discovery is life’s greatest adventure.”

“You are so mature for your age.” I’ve heard this quite often. 1 But is that true?
According to the dictionary, mature means being fully developed physically; full-grown. I once read an article that discusses the influence past experiences have on children. 2 Kids are meant to be kids, and acting like adults can put pressure on them.
Most of the time, children don’t want to grow up more quickly. 3 A common situation in which kids may mature faster is growing up with unstable parents. Besides, having to care for their parents who can’t look after themselves can leave the kids in a role-reversal situation. 4 They have to learn how to take care of the person who is supposed to take care of them.
The same goes for me. I’m mature now because of what I’ve experienced in my life. I often put a lot of pressure on myself. I don’t allow myself to act like a child. 5 Now I know that being mature for my age is natural for me. I’ll accept it and make an effort not to forget the challenges I have faced because they are all part of me.

A.And I always appear strong in front of others.

4. D

5. A
【解析】根据下文内容,“Now I know that being mature for my age is natural for me.”作者认为自己表现出与实际年龄不符的成熟是很自然的现象,此处应填比实际年龄成熟的表现,故A符合题意。

Ask your friend if something is wrong. The direct way is often the best one. 2 You can say something like, “Hey, it has been a while since we talked last time. What’s the matter? Is everything OK?”
3 You might find that you’re not the only one having problems with the person. Sharing your problems can make both of you feel better. Together, you might be able to find the best ways to solve the problems.
Move forward with your friend. If your friend’s interests have changed, try something new that he likes to do. Keep an open mind. 4 Sometimes, your friend chooses to hang out with a new group of people. 5 It can be a great way to make new friends.
