四、语言点
1.at the age of 在……岁时, 后接基数词,用于一般过去时
=同义表达: ① at+基数词 ②when sb. was/were...(years old)
She started learning the piano at the age of five. 她在五岁时开始学习钢琴。
=She started learning the piano at five.
=She started learning the piano when she was five years old.
used to +动词原形 过去常常/曾经 表示过去的习惯或者常态,但是现在已经不存在。
used to do sth. 过去常常做某事 表达过去的状态则是used to be。
I used to play soccer every weekend, but now I don't have time.
我过去每个周末都踢足球,但现在我没有时间了。
She used to be a teacher before she became a doctor. 她在成为医生之前曾经是一名教师。
plenty of +可数名词(复数形式)或不可数名词
很多的,大量的,充足的 表示某物的数量很多、足够或有余。
Plenty of sleep is healthful. 充足的睡眠有益于健康。
感叹句是用来表达喜、怒、哀、乐等强烈感情的句子。
(1)What引导的感叹句的基本结构:
①What +a/an +形容词+单数可数名词+主语+谓语!
What a clever boy he is! 他是一个多么聪明的男孩啊!
②What +形容词+可数名词复数/不可数名词+主语+谓语!
What beautiful pictures they are! 多么美丽的照片啊!
What good weather it is! 多好的天气啊!
(2)How引导的感叹句的基本结构:
①How +主语+谓语! How time flies! 时光飞逝!
②How+形容词+a/an+单数可数名词+主语+谓语! How clever a boy he is! 他真是一个聪明的男孩!
③How +形容词/ 副词+ 主语+谓语! How good the weather is! 多好的天气啊!
(1)arrive 到达,抵达 不及物动词,不能直接跟宾语
arrive in + 大地点 城市或国家
She arrived in Jinggangshan yesterday. 她昨天到达了井冈山。
arrive at + 小地点 学校、车站、机场、村、城镇
We arrived at the airport at 6 o’clock. 我们六点钟到达了机场。
(2)get to +地点 到达
David gets to school at seven in the morning. 大卫经常在早上七点到校。
(3)reach +地点 到达
I reach Beijing yesterday. 我昨天到达北京。
6.as a result结果,因此 表示后一句话是前一句话导致的结果或者造成的影响,作目的状语,放句首或句中。
He made one big mistake. As a result, he lost his job. 他犯了个大错,结果丢了工作。
7.die out 消失;绝迹,灭绝 指某种生物或事物逐渐消失,最终不再存在
熄灭,指火焰或灯光逐渐熄灭
The dinosaurs died out millions of years ago. 恐龙在数百万年前灭绝了。
The fire died out after the firefighters put out the fire. 消防员扑灭大火后,火就熄灭了。
8.try one’s best to do sth. 尽力做某事 one’s指的是形容词性物主代词my, your,his, her等。
We should try our best to learn English well. 我们应该尽最大的努力学好英语。

Extinct animal 灭绝的动物
Many animals have become extinct. 许多动物已经灭绝了。One such animal is the woolly mammoth. 其中一种动物就是长毛象。They used to live in cold areas in Europe. 他们曾经生活在欧洲的寒冷地区。The woolly mammoth was a huge animal. 长毛象是一种巨大的动物。It had a long trunk. 它有一个长长的鼻子。It used to reach for food and water. 它用来获取食物和水。The woolly mammoth is social animals. 长毛象是群居动物。The extinction of these animals is mainly due to human activities. 这些动物的灭绝主要是由于人类的活动。We need to take better care of our environment and try our hardest to prevent other animals from meeting the same fate. 我们需要更好地保护我们的环境,尽最大努力防止其他动物遭遇同样的命运。Let’s work together to protect them.让我们一起努力来保护他们。
