教学目标
By the end of the class, students will be able to be city guides for the 19th Asian Games and make a city tour report about the host city and co-host cities in Zhejiang province and compare two cities. This will be achieved by: helping students recall the target languages (be in the east/south/north/west of , on the coast, has a population of, be famous for...) to describe a place/city and make city cards for cities. helping students learn how to introduce their home towns by talking about different aspects of these cities (location, population, famous places/people, activities, local food, history, weather…) with the aid of city cards. helping students review the key structure, comparative adjectives(bigger, smaller, older, newer, larger, colder…), and guide them to make a city tour report for two cities in their home town. helping students develop awareness of love for their home town and country.
教学内容
教学重点: Guide students to introduce two cities in their hometown by talking about different aspects such as location, population and famous places/people etc. Guide students to compare two cities of their hometown by using comparative adjectives such as bigger, smaller and larger etc. 教学难点: Students may feel it difficult to: use the target language to introduce a place/city. Solutions: Encourage students to be city guides based on PBL learning. Show students Betty’s introduction as an example. Guide students to make city cards as the introduction aid. Give students background information about the cities.These steps are of great help to get students ready for the introduction . use comparative adjectives to report and compare two cities. Solutions: Help students review comparative adjectives and key structures. Offer listening material to students. Stimulate students to complete Betty’s traveling experience in two cities of China with the help of check lists. Guide students to observe, experience, think and finally do it by themselves.

Before task: students watch a video about the host city and co-host cities of the 2022 Asian Games and describe these cities in their home town. Main task1: students make city cards for the host city and one of the co-host cities for Betty.Based on PBL learning, this task sets a real learning situation for the students as the city guides of the 19th Asian games. These cities are their home towns, which are familiar for them. The main task1, making the city cards, makes learning interesting and also can serve as a learning aid for making the report in main task2.Completing main task2 (module task)Step7 Making a city tour report for the 2022 Asian Games Before task: students show their city cards for the host city and one co-host city. Main task2: students make a city tour report for the host city and one of the co-host cities for Betty.
As the second part of the main task and also the module task, it gives students the chance to use the target language and comparative adjectives to make a city tour report about the host and co-host cities of the 2022 Asian Games. With the previous practice and the help of city cards, it is easier for students to complete the task.Homework Step8 Homework Must do: read the city tour report aloud and share it with your classmates. May do: make a city tour poster according to the city cards and the report. Homework helps students consolidate what they’ve learned in the class. The must-do homework is for the whole class and the may-do homework is for those who are willing to challenge themselves.
