Comb the reading material and summarize different aspects to introduce Teahouse (including place, time background, main idea, meaning). 3. Make the introduction better with richer language and more content (including the writer and influence).

Activity 1 Share The teacher welcomes the students and asks students what they know about Lao She, Teahouse or Lao She Teahouse. Then students share what they have learnt. In the end, the teacher asks students to tell the relationship between Lao She, Teahouse and Lao She Teahouse. Activity 2 Read and match the headings with paragraphs Students read the passage quickly and get the main idea of each part. Activity 3 Think and answer Students share something new that they have learnt from the passage without reading the book again and guess who will probably visit Lao She Teahouse. The teacher observes what students have learnt about today’s passage and who is willing to share. The teacher observes whether students could get the main idea quickly and correctly by focusing on key words. The teacher observes students’ self-learning ability and logical thinking ability.Intention: To arouse students’ interest and to help them get prepared for the topic directly; To help students learn from each other by sharing and listening; To cultivate students’ ability of reading for the main idea; To help students understand the passage better. 2. Activity 7 Introduce Teahouse Students introduce Teahouse with rich content and colorful expressions. . Activity 8 Summarize the checklist After finishing the former activities, students summarize the checklist of how to make an introduction of your favourite book. The teacher observes whether students could summarize different aspects according to detailed information. The teacher observes whether students could connect Teahouse with Lao She and Lao She Teahouse. The teacher observes whether students could think about other expressions but show the similar meanings. The teacher observes students’ learning ability. The teacher observes whether students could get the key points of this class by summarizing the checklist. Intention: To help students be familiar with the basic information of Teahouse by answering questions; To lead students to be flexible when they introduce a work; To consolidate what they’ve learned and help them get ready for the final activity. 4. Introduce their favourite book according to the checklist.Activity 9 Introduce your favourite book Students choose one of their favourite books with Chinese traditional culture and make an introduction according to the checklist. After presenting, students evaluate their introductions according to the checklist. The teacher observes whether students could use the checklist to introduce their favourite book and to evaluate their introductions in class presentations.
