Long, long ago, people made fires from lightening (闪电). But they had to keep the fire burning, for they couldn't start it again if there was no lightening. Later, they found out hitting two pieces of stone together could make a spark (火花). The spark could fire dry leaves. In this way they could make fire again if it went out. Then people also learned to make a fire by rubbing (摩擦). They made a hole in a piece of wood and put a smaller stick into the hole. They turned the stick again and again. After a few minutes they got a fire.
Years went by, people learned other ways to make a fire. Sometimes they used the heat from the sun. They held a piece of glass in the right way and made a piece of paper on fire.
About two centuries ago, people began to make matches. Matches brought people a quick and easy way to make fire. Today matches are still being used, but people have more new ways to make fire. Hawaii is famous for its beautiful beaches. Every year water sports, especially surfing and water skiing attract tourists to the island.
Hawaii has been a magical name to people who like to travel for many years. People on both sides of the Pacific Ocean (太平洋), in Japan and in America, dream of seeing these beautiful islands in the middle of the ocean. In the tropical lands, the sun drops like a ball of golden fire into the sea, and it drops so quickly that you can almost see it move. The sun leaves behind a glow that lights the sky in the quiet water.
People often have a quiet, enjoyable time walking along the water. This scenery here is not very different from the exciting beauty that greeted the first tourists to these islands centuries ago. They came in canoes not much bigger than small boats.
They found the beautiful white sand beaches and the waving palm trees, but there were no grand hotels like the one we see today. The first people came to Hawaii nearly two thousand years ago, but skyscraper hotels were only built in the last 25 years. Now planes make it possible to fly to Hawaii for a weekend from Tokyo or San Francesco.
No matter where people come from, they really want to see the earliest beauty of Hawaii. They want to see the lovely beaches and the mountains which are almost hidden by the tall hotels.

There are two causes which determine(决定)your I.Q. The first is the sort of brain you are born with. Human brains are various; some babies will be cleverer than others. But no matter how good a brain he has to begin with, a man will have a low order of I.Q. unless he has chance to learn. So the second cause is what happens to you—the sort of environment in which you are living. If a man is disabled environmentally, it is likely that his brain will fail to develop and he will never get the level of I.Q. of which he is able.
The importance of environment was proved by the case of the identical twins(同卵双胞胎), Peter and Mark. Being identical, the twins had same brains at birth, and their growth processes were the same. When the twins were three months old, their parents died, and they were placed in different foster(抚养) homes. The younger brother Peter was raised by parents of low I.Q. with poor educational opportunities. But the older brother Mark was raised by parents who had been to college. He was sent to good schools, and given every opportunity to be stimulated(激励) intellectually. This environmental difference continued until the twins were in their late teens, when they were given tests to measure their I.Q. Mark's I.Q. is 125, forty points higher than his identical brother. Given equal(相同的) opportunities, the twins, having identical brains, would have tested at the same level.
61. What does the passage mainly talk about
A. Why are some babies cleverer than others B. How to be cleverer than others
C. What influences your I.Q. D. How to measure your I.Q.
62. What does the underlined word “intellectually” mean in the passage
A. 智力上 B. 精神上 C. 体力上 D. 艺术上
63. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage
A. The brain a person is born with isn’t important in determining his I.Q.
B. Environment plays an important part in determining a person's I.Q.
C. The elder brother is always cleverer than the younger brother in real life.
D. Given equal opportunities, the twins must be tested at the same level.
64. How much was Peter’s I.Q. when he was in his late teens
A. 165 B. 139. C. 125. D..85.
65. What may the passage suggest
A. The I.Q. is determined when you were born.
B. People born in poor family will have low I.Q.
C. Lack of opportunity will block(阻碍)the growth of I.Q.
D. Change the environment will change the structure of the brain.
