26]I once gave a lesson to a group of primary school students

G. These children were often busy doing their schoolwork.
第一步:画上下文关键信息,上文“First, I asked the …”,下文
“Then I had each of them…

41]Once upon a time, all the animals were called to an
early meeting. As they gathered in the public square, one of them, the
chicken, was seen by her neighbours going in the opposite direction. “Hey,
Chicken! ” they asked. “Didn’t you receive the invitation?”

C. And I would of course come to the meeting.
D. They had a lively but surprisingly short discussion.
E. The decision about which animal to offer was reached without any
disagreement.
As they gathered in the public
square, one of them, the chicken, was seen by her neighbours going in the
opposite direction. 'Hey, Chicken!…'”
44]The topic the animals would discuss was what to do with the
order of the lion. The lion ordered them to give him something to eat.

E. This can be a great way to help us feel calm.
F. For example,we can colour, paint,or keep diaries.
G. Try different things to find out which one is right.
29] If you notice a stone lying on the ground, pick it
up and hold it. When you see beautiful flowers by the side of the road, stop and

If you notice a stone lying on the ground, pick it
up and hold it. When you see beautiful flowers by the side of the road, stop and
enjoy the pleasant smell.”
41]“I feel my heart beating, my eyes widen and almost

1. 审题优先:审清题干到底问的是what、how还是when、where, 并预
该题型常用由who、what、
where、when、why和how等引导的特殊
54]Reporter: Why do you love Suzhou?
Zekro: When I was a child, my parents told me that love has no boundaries.
They told me the purpose of life is to serve people and make contributions to our
society. Since my wife and I came to Suzhou twenty-four years ago, I have
never stopped showing my love in action. I’ve taught the latest technology to my
students in Soochow University for free.
How long have Zekro and his wife lived in Suzhou?
For twenty-four years.”。
第一步:提取题干关键信息,How long和lived in Suzhou;第二步:根
Since my wife and I came to Suzhou twenty-four
years ago, I have never stopped showing my love in action.”;第三步:根据
twenty-four years.”。
56]Roberta woke up early the next morning. Then she woke up

“Apple pie for breakfast,”cried Peter.“What fun!”
It was a wonderful breakfast. Everyone was very hungry.
How did the children like the breakfast?
Early the next morning.
①What does the underlined word “they” refer to in Paragraph…?
②What is…they were thinking?
③Please fill in the blank in the last paragraph.

例1 [2024南京模拟,56]Most students like junk food(垃圾食品) because
it is tasty. Whether it should be allowed in schools or not is still a question. Just
as every coin has two sides, junk food in schools has its advantages and
disadvantages.
Topic Junk food in
schools
Most students like junk food
because it is tasty. Whether it should be allowed in schools or not is still a

Sarah
AHi! Sarah,
This is a big reason why so many people worry about social media’s
influence on teenagers. Feeling worried and lonely as a result of looking
through your phone is quite normal, even if it is unhealthy.
Quite a lot of people post their pictures or videos on social media. Most of
them share the best parts of their lives. You must keep in mind that they do so to
share good feelings with others. It’s hard to find people sharing their bad
moments, like feeling stressed about their home life or shame after failing a
test.
If seeing these videos and photos still causes bad feelings, stop
connecting for a while. Do something that makes you pleased and relaxed. Try
to read or spend some time with your family. You don’t need to impress anyone
else.

Imagine you are walking through deep snow. As you walk, you leave
footprints where you’ve been. That’s what happens when using technology,
such as computers, mobile phones and tablets. You leave your digital footprint
and it will never disappear.
Here are reasons why your digital footprint should matter to you.
How people see you
Of course, you have nothing to hide, but if people get information about
you, they might judge you from the information you have left online. For
example, you make a bad joke online. Years later, it’s found by the university
you are applying to, and they don’t think it’s funny. Maybe they decide you are
not the “right” kind of person for them.
Not everything can be shared with everyone. For example, you might
share your school reports with your parents, but keep them secret to your e-
friends. If you share them on the Internet, they will not be a secret any more.
Therefore, to protect your privacy(隐私), remember to put out less
information online.
Your private information
Keeping your money safe
There are plenty of people looking at information about you, and some of
them want to steal from you. So you shouldn’t write bank details, card numbers
or passwords in emails or text messages.
Overall, the message is:No one can go online without leaving his digital
footprint-but with care, you can control it.
1. When do you leave digital footprint?
When using technology.
2. How many reasons are mentioned in the passage?
3. What should you do to protect your privacy?
4. What shouldn’t be written in emails or text messages?
5. How can you go online safely?

A total of 23 spotted seals (斑海豹) were put back into the waters off the
coast of Dalian in Northeast China’s Liaoning Province on Tuesday, Dec. 12,
2023 as part of China’s continuous efforts to protect endangered wildlife.
The seals were hunted and sold, but have now been saved and marked for
future protection. A fishery law enforcement ship arrived at the sea area near
Dalian in the morning, carrying the spotted seals. The seals were let go free one
by one into the sea. They swam freely in the water, returning to their natural
home.
Spotted seals are nationally protected animals in China. They are the only
kind of seals that can breed (繁殖) in Chinese waters. Like migratory (迁徙
的) birds, they appear around October every year in Liaodong Bay, and take
the long journey back to the Northwest Pacific in May after breeding. They are
often considered as the “panda of the sea”.
Thanks to China’s top-class national protection in recent years, the
population of spotted seals in Chinese waters has reached around 2,000, while
the global population is between 400,000 and 600,000. Studies have shown
that these 2,000 spotted seals are of great importance for the study and research
on spotted seals.
To protect this rare animal and its ecological environment, the Liaoning
Dalian Spotted Seal Wetlands were set up in 1992.In January 2002,they were
included in the List of Wetlands of International Importance. Covering an area of
560,000 hectares with a coastline of about 370 kilometers, the wetlands are
rich in biological resources. They have become home to nationally protected
animals such as the spotted seal, finless porpoise, killer whales, false killer
whales, common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and East Asian river
dolphins.
Since 1992, researchers in Dalian have successfully saved 388 spotted
seals and put 299 of them back into the wild.

Before 1970, few laws protected the environment. Then on April 22 that
year, Earth Day was created to celebrate our planet, tell people about
environmental problems, and encourage them to take action. Now Earth Day is
celebrated all around the world. We still face many challenges, such as climate
(气候) change, plastic pollution, and deforestation(毁林). But we can
make a difference. Here is an Earth-helping hero.
Adeline Tiffanie Suwana was twelve when her family’s home flooded.
Indonesia, her island nation in South-east Asia, is often hit hard by floods
and other natural disasters.
Adeline wanted to help. Studying the problem, she learned that mangrove
trees play an important role in flood protection. Their big, tangled(缠结的)
roots slow floodwaters and keep soil from washing away. But the trees were
being cut down.
Adeline gathered her classmates to plant 200 mangrove young trees during a
school break. They started a group called Friends of Nature, which works to
keep the area’s biodiversity(生物多样性), fight against climate change,
and help people realize the importance of the environment. They even started a
project to get clean energy to remote villages.
Today, Adeline attends college, studying how businesses can help the
environment.
Remember:every one of us can be a hero for the environment!

As a country strong in math, China has many folk games filled with math
wisdom. You may have played many of them before. Let’s take a look at two of
them.
Luban Lock
Luban Lock was first created by Chinese carpenter Lu Ban
about 2,000 years ago. It is said that Lu used six wooden pieces to
make a toy that looks like a lock for his son. The lock has a lot to do
with solid geometry (立体几何). It’s hard to separate the six
pieces. However, it is usually easier to unlock a Luban Lock than
to put it back together. Now, there are Luban Locks made up of
nine or more pieces.
Huarong Pass
Huarong Pass is a traditional Chinese block-moving puzzle.
Every block is named after a character in the book Romance of the
Three Kingdoms, like Cao Cao, Zhang Fei and Zhao Yun. To
succeed in the game, players have to move the blocks to get “Cao
Cao” out. This is a test of one’s math knowledge, for example,
of geometric area (几何面积). According to the Chinese Puzzle
website, it takes at least 81 steps to set “Cao Cao” free.

John: Hello, ChatGPT! I’m John. What can you do to help people?
Forexample, improve their English?
ChatGPT: As an AI(人工智能) language model, I can do many things
to help people improve their English. I can offer advice on grammar and
vocabulary, help with pronunciation and provide feedback(反馈) on written
or spoken English. What’s more, I can take part in conversation with people in
English, which can help them practice their language skills interestingly and
naturally. Would you like me to help you with any problems of your English?
John: No, not at the moment. That sounds even more powerful than
some English teachers. So do you think you’ll replace(替代) some human
beings in some areas, such as English teachers, news reporters or people who
do customer service work?
ChatGPT: No, I don’t think I can replace them completely. Though I can
provide useful help in many areas, I am still a machine and there are things only
human beings can do. English teaching, news reporting and serving are far
more than skills. They are also about feelings, thoughts, cultures and so on.
However, I believe that I can be a valuable tool to support and improve the
work of human beings in these fields. By working together, better results can
be achieved to those we serve.John: Great. I like your ideas. So my next
question is, what advice would you give to human beings in order to be better
prepared for the future?
ChatGPT: Good question, John. Here are a few pieces of advice for
people to think about. First, develop thinking ability. In a word, instead of
copying others’ ideas, you should have your own thoughts. Next, learn to
work together with machines. Don’t be afraid of AI; it’s important to know how
to work together with machines to improve your own abilities. Then, develop
skills only human beings have, like creativity and empathy(共情). Fourth,
keep learning and changing. The world is changing fast and it’s important to stay
up to date with the latest developments in technology and other fields. I hope
these tips are helpful, John.

To support the employment(就业) of disabled people in Guangzhou,
Starbucks has opened its first “Silent Café” in China where almost half the
staff are hearing impaired.
Fourteen out of the thirty staff members have trouble hearing, and
Starbucks has created a café that doesn’t require customers to say anything-nor
the staff to hear anything. “This might be the quietest Starbucks among the over
3,800 shops on the Chinese mainland,” says Leo Tsoi, Chief Operating
Officer of Starbucks, China.
The newly opened “Silent Café” has a special ordering system where all
food and drinks are numbered, letting customers easily write down their order
and allowing them to place orders without having to say a word.
Chen Siting, a staff member, shares her thoughts about the idea. “We
cannot hear you but would like to share a tasty coffee with you,” says Siting.
“I believe more people like me could find a career they dream about in the
future,” she continues.
Like Siting, Zhu Jieying, has been working at Starbucks for about seven
years, making him its first hearing-impaired coffee master. He has hopes that
Starbucks could open more opportunities(机遇) for those who are disabled,
and encourage them to prove themselves and to explore more possibilities in life.
