Known as the eighth wonder of the world, Terracotta Warriors is the funerary object(陪葬品) of
Emperor Qinshihuang, the first Emperor of China.
Qinshihuang became the king of Qin State when he was 13. After that, he started building his mausoleum (陵墓). According to the historical records, Qinshihuang put over700,000 workers into the building and the whole project lasted 39 years. The mausoleum was built according to Xianyang, the capital city of Qin, because the Emperor wanted to continue his rule in the death.
Terracotta Warriors was buried 1.5 km east of Qinshihuang's mausoleum. There' re three pits(深坑) with terracotta warriors. About8,000 pieces of clay warriors and horses as large as real ones were discovered. Here are some interesting facts about Terracotta Warriors.
Different appearances
After the unification (统一) of China, warriors were chose from all parts of the country. Besides, the workers had different experiences and skills. So no two terracotta warriors are the same. Their facial expressions, hairstyles, clothes and hand gestures are different from each other.

Since most terracotta warriors are whitegrey today, it's hard to imagine that they were painted different colors in the past. The earliest terracotta warriors were painted skin color (肤色) on the faces and hands, and their clothes were also painted bright colors.

The height of terracotta warriors is almost180cm. Qin State was famous for its strong armed force. After Qinshihuang unified China, it was easy to choose tall and strong warriors across the country.

Tens of thousands of bronze weapons were also discovered. The weapons were all actual fighting weapons in the Qin Dynasty. After being buried in the ground for over 2,000 years, they were still in good condition.
