Dear Miss Li,
I'd like to thank you for giving money to Animal Helpers. I’m sure you know that this group was set up to help disabled people like me. You helped to make it possible for me to have lucky. Lucky makes a big difference to my life. Let me tell you my story.
Read Para 1 carefully and answer the questions.
1. Who wrote the letter to Miss Li Why
Ben Smith wrote the letter to Miss Li. He wanted to thank her for sending money to Animal Helpers and to tell her how Animal Helpers helped him.
She sent money to Animal Helpers, a group that was set up to help disabled people.

be set up 被建立。set up意为“建立,设立,开办”,后常接某一组织、机构、团体等。
【辨析】be set up和build
build意为“建造,修建”,后常接建筑物、机械等。
eg. 1). Many volunteers want to set up an organization to help the poor.
许多志愿者想设立个机构来帮助穷人。
2). They set up an organization to help the poor build houses.
他们设立了一个组织来帮助穷人建造房子。

2....make it possible for me to have Lucky.…使我拥有Lucky变得可能。
make it possible for sb. to do sth.“使得某人有可能……”
make it+adj.(+for sb.)+to do sth.意为“使做某事(对某人来说)怎么样”,it为形式宾语,to do sth.是句子的真正宾语。类似这种用法的动词还有find, think等。
eg. puters make it easier to keep in touch with friends.
电脑使得与朋友保持联系更加容易。
2).Spaceships make it possible to travel to the moon.
宇宙飞船使去月球旅行成为可能。

Lucky对我的生活产生很大影响。
make a difference 有影响,有作用;其后可跟to sb./sth.,意为“对某人或某事产生影响”。
make a big difference to...对...产生巨大影响
make no difference 没有作用,没有影响
eg. 1). A teacher can make a difference to the lives of his / her students. 教师能够影响学生的一生。
2). The transfer has made a difference to my life.

4.Or imagine you can't walk or use your hands easily.
(或者)想象一下,你不能轻易地走路或用手。
imagine v. 想像, 预料, 设想
imagine (sb.) doing sth.意为“想像(某人)做某事”。
imagine sb. / sth. (+ to be) + 形容词、名词或介词短语等, 意为“想像某人/ 某物……”。
imagine + 从句, 意为“想像/猜测/料想……”。
eg. 1).We often imagine living in a big house.
我们经常想象住在一所大房子里。
2). Close your eyes and imagine(that) you're in the forest.
闭上眼睛,想象你在森林里。

difficulty n. 困难;难题
强调具体的“困难”时,为可数名词(C);指笼统的“困难;艰难”时,为不可数名词(U)。
固定搭配:have difficulty (in) doing sth.=have trouble(in) doing sth.做某事有困难。
eg. 1).There are lots of children with reading difficulties.
有很多存在阅读困难的儿童。
2). Jane has difficulties in learning math. Let’s help her.
