在喜马拉雅山脉之中,海拔在7000米以上的高峰有50多座,8000米以上的有16座,著名的有南峰、希夏邦马峰、干城章嘉峰。“喜马拉雅”在藏语中就是“冰雪之乡”的意思。这里终年冰雪覆盖,一座座冰峰如倚天的宝剑,一条条冰川像蜿蜒的银蛇。其中最为高耸的则是位于中国和尼泊尔边界上的珠穆朗玛峰,它以高达8844.43米的高度,是世界最高峰。

(1)risk作及物动词,意为“冒……的风险;使……冒风险”,后可接名词、代词或动名词,即:risk sth. / risk doing sth.如:
①You should not risk your health for the job.
你不应该为了那份工作而冒损害健康的风险。
②We all know it's a problem, but are afraid to risk doing different something to solve it.我们都知道这是个问题,但是又害怕冒风险做不同的事情去解决它。

(2)lives在此是life的复数形式,意为“生命”。如:
He’s an experienced doctor. He saved many lives in his life.
