1. Although I have lost everything, I have not lost my life.
although conj.虽然,尽管;不过,然而。引导让步状语从句。
【注意】although/though表示“虽然,尽管”,这两个词都不能与but连用,即用了although/though,就不能再用but,不过可以与yet/still一起使用。
e.g. 尽管天在下雨，足球比赛仍然在继续。

3. Who else is on my island
else意为“别的,其他的”,用在疑问词where,what,who等及不定代词something, anything, nothing, everyone等之后。
【辨析】other为形容词，意为“别的；其他的”，常放在名词之前作定语。也可用作代词，表示“其他的人或物”。
e.g. 1) 我还有其他的事要告诉你。（两种）

I have other things to tell you.
2) 我还能为你做点别的事吗？

4. I saw some cannibals trying to kill two men from a broken ship.
see sb. doing sth.指“看见某人正在做某事”,即看见的行为或事件正在进行。
see sb. do sth.指“看见了某人做某事的全过程”。
与see用法相似的动词还有:hear,watch,feel,notice等。

some...the others用于三者或三者以上，意为“一些……其余的……”

(2)男孩们在操场上。一些正在打篮球，其余的正在踢足球。

6. I named him Friday because that was the day I met him.
name作名词意为“名字”,作动词表示“取名,命名,说出名字”。固定搭配“name + sb. + 名字”意为“给某人取名为……”。
【拓展】　named或called与后面的名词一起构成过去分词短语作后置定语,修饰前面的名词。
e.g. (1) 露西给她的小儿子取名叫戴维。
