【答案】Dear Chris,
I am writing to share with you my exciting experience at the campus painting competition held last month.
My entry was a landscape painting of our school’s garden at sunset, which was titled “Golden Hour”. I chose this subject because it represents the harmony between nature and our educational environment. The process of creating the painting was both challenging and rewarding, as I had to capture the fleeting beauty of the setting sun and the play of light on the leaves.
I am thrilled to say that my painting won first prize! This achievement has encouraged me to continue exploring my passion for painting and contribute more to our school’s artistic efforts.
Best wishes,
Li Hua

【答案】范文
“Max, it’s me, Patrick! Your brother,” he said, with tears running down his face. “I’ve been searching for you everywhere, ever since that tragic accident that tore us apart. I never stopped searching, not for a single day. Our parents... they’ve been waiting too, their hearts heavy with grief but never giving up hope.” The words flowed out, each one a testament to the bond they shared and the years of searching. Max stared, his eyes widening as the fog of his past began to lift. The face, the voice, and most importantly, the shared tattoo — all confirmed the truth that had seemed impossible until now.
Patrick placed a hand on Max’s shoulder his voice filled with determination. “We’re going home, Max, together. No more nights on the streets, no more searching. Our family has a place for you, always.” Max felt a warmth spread through him, a feeling he hadn’t experienced in what felt like a lifetime. He nodded, tears welling up in his eyes. As they left the nursing home, hand in hand, Max knew that his journey home had just begun. But with Patrick beside him, he felt a sense of belonging and hope that he had thought lost forever. The city’s noise now seemed to carry a melody of redemption, and the pavement beneath his feet no longer felt cold.

My good friend, George, was influenced by his parents, who are some of the best examples of giving, whether they get paid or not.
When I was a little child, I joined George and his mom in going to Erin’s house, bringing food and daily supplies with us. Obviously, Erin’s family faced economic trouble and could hardly afford food. George and I took several bags of things to the door, rang the bell and ran off. Erin still doesn’t know to this day who did that. Since then, I’ve always given whatever I could afford to help the people in need.
You never knew what my act would lead the people in need to do. A few years ago, I came across a homeless man begging for money to get bread at a bus stop. I could have ignored him, but I felt sorry for him and pulled out my wallet. I only had $ 20 in my hand. I was just a college student. However, I handed him the money, and he promised me that he’d find a job to make a living. When I got on the bus, he smiled at me and said,“I’ll remember you forever!”I also smiled. It totally made my day, and I would also never forget his face. Later, I lent my phone to one boy to call his family and managed to help his worried mother find a job online.
Though an act of kindness toward anyone can seem like no big deal to me and cost me nearly nothing, I believe in the effects it can have on other people. Hopefully, they still have faith in humanity. It’s the kind of interaction that is more valuable than money. Since doing good is within our power, let’s help out more.
4. What made the author start helping others
A. The request from Erin.
B. The request from George’s parents.
C. His childhood experience of doing good with George.
D. His past experience of giving money to the homeless.
5. How does the author develop paragraph 3
A. By giving reasons. B. By giving examples.
C. By making suggestions. D. By making comparisons.
6. What is the author’s purpose in writing the last paragraph
A. To call on people to do good.
B. To explain doing good costs nothing.
C. To advise people to remember others’ help.
D. To show interaction is as valuable as money.
7. What is the best title for the text
A. Give to Get Paid B. Try to Make My Day
C. A Big Deal with the Honest D. The Power of Kindness

A new study from a German research group says climate change will reduce everyone’s income (收入) by about 19 percent over the next 25 years. That would be about $38 trillion per year. But the report warns it could get worse between 25 and 75 years from now if nothing is done soon. Developed countries such as Germany, the United States and France would face smaller decreases. The researchers foresaw that people living in those countries would see 11 to 13 percent less income. The greatest economic effect will be felt by people in the least-developed nations.
The researchers first estimated (估算) what the world’s economic growth would be without climate change. They then applied those values to the damage to economies if climate change continues at its present pace. There will still be economic growth, but it will be 19 percent lower in most places once the damage of climate change is taken into consideration.
Most at the research group have been centering on extreme weather events such as heat waves, floods, typhoons, hurricanes and other large storms. However, the effects are still mainly driven by average warming or overall temperature increases. The average world temperature last year was a record. That number was 1.35 ℃ above the average during pre-industrial times, before modern technology.
In the US, the southeastern and southwestern states such as New Mexico and Arizona are estimated to suffer the largest economic effects. In Europe, Spain and Italy are likely to feel the effects more than countries like Denmark and Germany. Areas that are usually cold for most of the year — Canada, Russia, Norway, Finland, and Sweden — will have good results from warming.
Experts note that the world’s poorest countries are also the least prepared to adapt to climate change. Those countries are least responsible for the change, but they will agonize 60 percent more income loss than wealthy nations.
8. What does the new study mainly show
A. The causes of climate change.
B. The process of climate change.
C. The economic losses caused by climate change.
D. The health problems caused by climate change.
9. What have most of the researchers been focusing on
A. Application value. B. Temperature decreases.
C. Modern technology. D. Natural disasters.
10. Why is Canada less affected by climate change
A. It has a large area. B. It has cold weather.
C. It is underdeveloped. D. It has a small population.
11. What does the underlined word “agonize” in the last paragraph mean
A. Research. B. Suffer. C. Avoid. D. Reduce.
D
Inside a recording room at Queen Mary University of London, several researchers are working with new artificial intelligence (AI) tools. Their aim is to develop what they call the“new virtual (虚拟的) worlds” of music. Andrea Martonelli and Max Graf are among more than 30 doctoral students working with Mathieu Barthet, a senior lecturer in Digital Media. They are exploring the possibilities of computational creativity and generative AI to build these virtual worlds. Generative AI is a term that describes technology tools designed to operate at human levels. Together, the researchers have set up a future studio where music meets most advanced technology.
Martonelli played a HITar a guitar with AI sensors (传感器) added to it. The sensors can read his movements to create drum-like sounds that accompany(伴随) the guitar music. These sounds cannot be made with a normal guitar. Generative AI grew in popularity last year thanks to a robotic language system. Generative AI can create new sounds, words for music or entire songs on its own. But artists usually use simpler AI to add to their sounds.
Musicians worry that the technology could go too far. Amy plays in an English rock group. She said she is not in support of the music that includes artificially made voices of actual artists. She said she felt the same way about using dead artists’ voices in songs. In November, the rock group released a song. It is considered the group’s last song and includesa musician’s voice, who died in 1980. His sounds were taken from an old recording and recreated with AI.
A famous singer said, “I think AI can have its place in the music production chain.” But he added, “This is only possible if the technology is guided in the right way and if there are rules in place to make sure that musicians keep some amount of control.”
12. What are the doctoral students working on
A. The history of traditional music.
B. The influence of AI on human creativity.
C. The development of musical instruments.
D. The creation of virtual music environments.
13. What is the function of the sensors added to the HI Tar
A. To provide backing music.
B. To control the language system.
C. To monitor the guitarist’s movements.
D. To improve the singer’s voice qualities.
14. What is Amy’s attitude to the music made by AI
A. Curious. B. Unfavorable. C. Uncaring. D. Thankful.
15. What does the famous singer in the last paragraph say about AI
A. It is a possible way to make music rules.
B. It should be stopped in music production.
C. It should be used wisely for creating music.
D. It is the only way to make dead artists’ voices alive.

Max had been living on the streets for as long as he could remember, which wasn’t very long at all. His past was a blur (模糊的记忆), a fog (迷雾) he couldn’t see through.
All he had was the present: the cold pavement beneath him, the noise of the city, and the mysterious tattoo (文身) on his hand — a small symbol with complicated lines that felt familiar, yet distant. It was the only clue to a life he had lost.
Despite his circumstances, Max never gave up. Every day, he wandered through different neighborhoods, asking if anyone had small jobs he could do. He wasn’t looking for charity — he wanted to work. “Anything you need done A small job, just for a meal,” he’d ask.
Some people ignored him, others turned him away, but a few, seeing the sincerity in his eyes, would offer him tasks like sweeping a storefront or carrying groceries.
With the few dollars he earned, Max bought clean clothes from second-hand shops. Every Sunday, he made sure he looked presentable enough to volunteer in a nursing home. It wasn’t just about fitting in; it was about his faith. He held onto it like a lifeline, believing that his parents hadn’t forgotten him.
And then, one Sunday, something remarkable happened.
Max sat on a bench near the back of the nursing home, relaxing after work. The elderly were sleeping when a man, tall and dressed in a sharp black suit, walked in.
The man noticed Max almost immediately, his eyes drawn to the tattoo on Max’s hand, which rested lightly on the bench.
The man’s eyes widened in shock. He quickly reached out his hand, showing the same tattoo on his hand. Without hesitation (犹豫), he walked toward Max, his steps quickening as realization dawned on him.
“Max Is that really you ” the man asked with disbelief.
Max looked up, confusion crossing his weather-beaten face. “Do I know you ” he replied wonderingly.
