Presenter: Welcome to News Today. Christmas is coming. It will bring joy, but also waste and pollution. In the UK, for example, people use about 365,000 kilometres of paper for gifts during the festival. There's also a waste of food. People throw away millions of turkeys each year. And they cut down nearly 120 million trees to use as Christmas trees. But after Christmas, they often throw the trees away. People are buying plastic Christmas trees, but they can cause pollution, too. We should think about new ways of celebrating. Let's have a“ green Christmas” this year.

Dad: And this year, we won't have a Christmas tree.
Mark: I don't agree. A tree is really important at Christmas!

Dad: Great idea!
Mark: By the way, will I still have gifts
Mum: Yes, of course! But we’ll wrap the gifts in old newspapers.
Mark: That's OK. But please use beautiful newspapers!
