二、阅读理解(主题:人与社会·惊喜电话的魔力 难度:★★★★ 用时:8分钟)
Many people have lost touch with others in their lives, whether they’re friends from high school or college they used to see. Some of them may think about whether they should get back in contact(联系) with a friend. A new study suggests that the answer is: yes, they should.
Our friends appreciate(欢迎) an unexpected phone call, or a message more than we think, even if we are just saying a quick hello. In fact, they are very excited and enjoy it very much.
That’s according to researchers from the US, who also said that the more surprising the contact is, the more the contact is appreciated.
They did a number of similar experiments with several thousand people. In one of them, half of the participants(参与者) were asked to think of a time when they had contacted a friend they hadn’t spoken to for some time. The other half had to think of a time when someone had gotten back in contact with them.
People in the first group were then asked to tell how much they thought the friend appreciated their messages — by text, phone or email. And the other group told how much they appreciated receiving the messages. The results showed that the people sending the messages underestimated(低估) how happy people were to receive them.
They found similar results in other experiments, such as when they asked participants to send notes or gifts to friends. And if the notes or gifts were surprising, they were even more welcome.

Dear Tony,

It’s normal and I know how you feel because I’ve had similar problems before. Here are my suggestions.
To solve the problems, first, let’s put ourselves into their shoes. Parents love us and often try to prevent us from making mistakes, so understanding each other matters a lot in improving the family relationship. Besides, when we share our problems with them, we often look for a listening ear and an open heart instead of a method to solve problems.

Yours,
Li Hua
Therefore, what you need to do is telling them about this honestly and trust them.
All in all, it’s of great importance to have love and communication. I hope my suggestions are helpful to you and things can get better soon.
