Being smart doesn’t mean getting good grades only, but is also about understanding how the world works. You can become smarter by following some simple habits .
Keep Learning Something New Each Day.
Learning something new every day (no matter how small) can have a big effect on your brain.
1 For example, you can start by using a word-of-a-day app to learn new words.
Use New Knowledge in Your Life.
2 Make sure you use it in your life and you will find it improves your life somehow. Whether it’s learning about numbers or technology, if you take the time to learn something, put that knowledge into practice.
3
Another way you can challenge your brain is to look at things you do every day and think about how you can do them differently. Finding new ways to do things will help your brain stay sharp and focused. It will as well make life more interesting and fun.
Play Games That Make You Think.
To keep your brain active, do something that requires you to think. Board games, card games video games, and puzzles are all good choices. 4 That’s because they need you to keep thinking.
Get Some Physical Exercise.

Lulu, a Hungarian PhD student at Tsinghua University first came to Beijing in 2017. Here she found her greatest passion-Peking Opera.
6 “I found it really amazing,”she said. “ The outfits were , of course, wonderful, and the movements were so delicate . 7 It is so much different from Western opera.”
Out of interest , she joined the Peking Opera group of Tsinghua University. That made her know that Peking Opera is much more than just the looks. The group's members practice twice a week and have a full rehearsal on Fridays. Mostly they practice singing and movement. 8 “In the beginning, my throat was in constant pain, because I was using my voice in the wrong way,” she said. 9
There are other international students in the group “I really love it that Peking Opera brings us together,” she said. I do believe that art has no boundaries an music has no language barriers. 10 ”

WeChat groups between parents and teachers were supposed to be an easy communication channel. 11 Some parents said they’ve even been asked to help their children clean the classroom and help with food service in the school canteen.
12 In the group, they have to answer questions and requests from parents at any time. One teacher Mr Liu said that he felt "afraid" of WeChat because there were always a lot of unread messages from parents.
Local authorities and educational institutions (机构) have come up with possible solutions. On Nov. 11 , Liaoning province banned teachers from asking parents to grade their students' homework. Taiyuan and Beijing also issued similar rules forbidding teachers to ask parents to help with homework. 13
This move has been welcomed by parents and teachers alike.A 35-year-old father agreed that teachers, parents and school need to make some changes. Teachers are already overworked and don't want to spend their free time being bothered by parents. 14 A high school biology teacher held that parents should make sure their kids finish their homework on time and that’s enough. 15

It is important to learn spending time wisely. B. It can be used to help us prepare for exams. C. Once the timer is set, you feel like running a race against time D. After you finish your tasks, you can see how long you have studied. E. People can use these two different functions based on their own needs F. For example, when we need to cook meat or soup, we can set a timer.
If you have difficulty managing time wisely, here comes a wonderful way to solve it--a timer. Generally speaking, a timer has two functions, including the count-up (正计时) one and the countdown (计时) one.16
For the count-up function, it can help you feel a sense of achievement. All you need to do is to turn it on at the beginning of the tasks.17 In this case, you can also easily find out how much time has been spent on each task as well. As for the countdown function, it is also of great help, especially when you can hardly pay full attention to your own task. 18 What you only need to do is to focus on the things you are doing right now without thinking about anything else.
How can we use the timer in our daily life First, it can help us with study 19
If we set 25 minutes to finish one part of an English test, we can check afterward to make comments on bow well we have done. What's more, it is also useful in daily lives.20 It can remind us to check on the food and avoid overcooking.

Cotton or plastic: which kind of bag is better for the environment Many of us would naturally say that the cotton bag is the best but that might only be true if you use that bag thousands of times.26
There is no doubt that plastic is harmful to the environment in many ways.27 Thrown-away plastic can sit and stay for centuries, or can pollute the sea, causing harm to wildlife and breaking down into polluting micro plastics.
Because of these factors (因素), many people are looking for ways to reduce their plastic use. However, it's not as easy as they think. 28 It's certainly more biodegradable (可降解) than plastic, but this might be only advantage. The production of cotton requires far more energy, water and so on. As the bags are heavier, transporting them will lead to higher carbon missions (碳排放). An article from Columbia University suggests that cotton shopping bags need to be used over 7000 times before they are more valuable than plastic ones.
29 Lightweight plastic in cars and planes help reduce oil use and emissions. If we didn't use so much plastic in clothing and shoes, we need plenty of land, water and other things for enough natural products.
Plastic lasts for centuries. This is the reason why it is harmful to the environment, but it also means it can be used to make things that can be re-used again and again.30
Plastic can cause serious ham to the environment, and efforts to throw less of it away can reduce this.Re-using it more could be one way to achieve this.
Let's see our cotton bag. The problem is that we often don't. Surprised Keep on and we'll explain. Do you wonder which should be better It's not just about cotton bags for shopping Producing it can cause harmful gas into the air.

Being away from family and friends is something more and more Chinese students experience in the hope to gain a western education. The following four steps may prove useful in helping those students in their preparations to study abroad.
Get to know your home before you hand it in.
Good preparation is half done.31 Learn about the history, culture, tradition, language and even details such as food, music, weather and social activities of your new host country.
Attitude is everything.
32 Have both positive thoughts about your new environment and a positive attitude toward your new home and hosts. These will bring positive results. Look at the bright side, or you will destroy your chances at being happy and successful in your future study before they have even started.
33
It's not easy being practical when deciding what to take. Whatever you bring, make sure that it will be something helpful to your success. This includes practical things such as study materials, old class notes, favourite textbooks or pens.34
Remember your roots.
Keep in touch with people you care about. You are a person with feelings. Talk to your friends and family about your thoughts, dreams and fears.35 It always halves any pressure and doubles the excitement of any achievements. With the convenience of the Internet, there is no excuse not to do so.
