VI. Teaching Procedures
Step 1: Lead-in (3 minutes)
1. Show some pictures about myself in the Stone Forest in Yunnan Province to introduce the topic -travel.
2. Ask students: " Have you ever been there Do you like travelling What should we do before you travel " to arouse their interest in the topic-a travel plan. What aspects should be included in your travel plan It is strongly recommended that teachers allow students to freely discuss this topic with their partners and brainstorm on it. Through this approach, students can come up with more ideas.
Step 2: Read for content and tense (7 minutes)
1. Direct students to turn to page 30 of the textbook and read Richard's travel plan to Xi'an carefully.
2. While students are reading, ask them to note down the key elements like where、when、who、what、how and why in Richard's plan.
3. After reading, quickly ask a few students to briefly share what they have noted down to check their understanding.
4. Conclude and analyse the content that should be included in a travel plan for students.
5. Underline the tense that is used in the plan and lead students to think “the present continuous tense can be used to talk about the future plan”.
Step 3: Read for structure (5 minutes)
Ask students to read the email and summarize the main idea of each paragraph.

2. Ask students to find out the required information in each paragraph.After that, teacher can lead students to figure out the structure of the text.
Step 4: Read for emotion (3 minutes)
Ask the students to think “Is what we have learned today enough to make your plan more vivid and attractive ”
Ask the students to read the words and phrase used to express emotion in the email.
Explain that it is necessary to add your feelings in the travel plan.
Practice expressing your emotion. Show a picture about myself in Yulong Snow Mountain to lead students to explore useful expressions to show one’s emotion and accumulate more to help writing.
Step 5: Recite (8 minutes)
1. Explain the writing task: "Now, you are going to pretend to be Xiaoli. Write a letter to Richard, telling him about your own travel plan to Beijing. You can learn from Richard's way of writing."
2. Before writing, recite the framework according to Richard's plan. If you have already recited it, you will find that you’ve finished the half of the writing.
Step 6: Practice (12 minutes)
1. Students start writing their letters to Richard about their travel plan to Beijing.
2. Walk around the classroom to monitor students' writing progress, offer immediate guidance on language use and grammar, and encourage them to write clearly and coherently.
3. Show one student’s writing on the multimedia equipment and give feedback.
4. Ask students to exchange their written letters with their neighbors.Each student should read their partner's letter carefully and give feedback based on the following aspects:
- Is the travel plan clearly stated with enough details
- Are the sentence structures and expressions used correctly
- Is the writing organized with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion
- Are there any grammar or spelling mistakes
After reading, students discuss the feedback with their partners to make improvements.
Step 7: Summary (3minutes)
After reading the email in the text, lead students to summarize the organization、content and the expressions of the travel plan by themselves so that they can be prepared to write a travel plan by themselves.

Step 8: Homework (3minutes)
Students try to write an email to talk about their travel plan by using what they have learned in this lesson.
