The listening test is one of the most important parts of the English exam. Here are some tips for you.
Before you start to listen, you need to relax. Don't be stressed out. And try to read the questions. These questions usually help you understand the conversations or the passage.
Then listen carefully to the first sentence. It usually tells you the main idea of the passage. When you're listening, try to do some thinking and take some notes, such as:
What happened
When, where, and how
What does the speaker want to tell us
In this way, you may understand the passage better.
Please remember not to think about one or two words for a long time. When you hear some words you don't know, don't spend too much time on them. Very often, you'll find out what they mean later when you go on listening.

When you are learning a language, listening, speaking and writing are important, but reading can also be very helpful. When you read, not only can you learn some new words, but also you can learn how to use them. When you read, it gives you a good example for writing.
Here are some good reading tips.
Firstly, try to read at the right level(水平). Read something that you can understand. If it is too hard for you, it cannot attract you.
Secondly, try to increase the number of your new words. If there are four or five new words on a page, don't use a dictionary. Instead, try to guess their meanings as you read and write them in your own vocabulary book. Try to look them up in the dictionary and remember them later.
Thirdly, try to read for a short time once a day. Fifteen minutes or half an hour every day is better than two hours every Sunday. For example, you can read before you go to bed, or before you get up or at lunchtime. If you continue doing that, you will improve your writing.
Lastly, read something that interests you. Choose a newspaper, a book or a magazine about a subject that you like. It is easy enough for you to understand. There is something interesting in it.

Many people have strong opinions about how kids study. But, the usual ways to do your homework may not be the best. Here are some tips for you.
Move before you work
If your parents tell you to do your homework as soon as you get off the bus after school, ask if you can run for 15 minutes first. When you move your body before doing homework, you can keep your brain active. You can do much better by exercising first.
Listen to music
When it's time to do your homework, your parents might want you to do it quietly. But maybe you want to listen to your favorite songs. Some kids study better with music on because it helps them ignore (忽略) other sounds around them. Some kids may get into the music so much that they forget about what they should do. It depends.
Take breaks
Maybe your parents want you to sit and do your homework until it's done. But in fact, when you have worked on something for a long time, you may start thinking about other things. Then your mind surely isn't on homework. A short break can stop you from getting tired. So stand up and take a walk. Then come back to your homework. You are ready to finish it soon.
The key is to find out what works for you when it's time to study. You may be surprised! Talk with your parents and come up with the best place, time, and way to get your homework done. That way, you won't have to be worried or stressed about it.

Most people learn the importance of the magic words “please” and “thank you” at a very early age. As you go through life, you see better things happen when you don't forget to say them, and that people warm up to you more quickly. Here are some of the most common expressions.
Please. This is one of those words that can show good manners. Any time you ask for something, it's always a good idea to add this word to soften the request.
Thank you. When someone does something nice for you or gives you a gift, you should always say, “Thank you,” even if it's something you dislike. Not doing so gives the impression that you feel entitled (有资格的) to whatever it is.
May I . . . The expression “May I . . . ?”puts you on the same side as the person you are speaking to. For example, when you say, “May I see that book?” you give the person a chance to share what he is looking at.
Excuse me. This expression is used when you are asking forgiveness (原谅) for leaving the table, coughing, or troubling somebody.
Pardon me. This expression can be exchanged with “Excuse me. ” The expression “Pardon me. ” sounds more formal (正式).
Polite language is always helpful. __▲__? Speaking to others politely won't make others unhappy. It might actually win you a few friends and help you get ahead in different situations.
56. The first paragraph mainly talks about ____.
A. what polite language is
B. how people use polite language

Few words are spoken more often every day on the streets of Britain than “I'm sorry. ” This phrase has become such a common response (反应) that it has taken on a lot of meanings.
Saying “Sorry. ” means to apologize (道歉). This is simple and easy to understand. We learn it both as a native speaker and as a student of foreign languages.
But in Britain, it takes on another meaning. It is a cultural expression. Imagine this: a man walks down the street, looking down at his phone. A woman is walking in the opposite direction, towards the man. She sees him, but she can't get out of the way in time. The man bumps (碰撞) into the woman. Who should say sorry Naturally, the man should say sorry, because it was he who wasn't looking where he was going. Yet in Britain, it is common for both to apologize.
It is known that British people, like most people, do not enjoy conflict(冲突). So to quickly calm the situation, British people will apologize to each other. Other times it may sound funny to hear “sorry”. Some of my friends say it at restaurants, as they ask the waiter, “Sorry, but can I order another drink?” It is not to apologize, but just to express that we need the waiter. In Britain, “sorry” doesn't always mean exactly what you think.
61. According to the passage, saying “sorry” is a cultural expression in____.
A. the USA B. the UK

D. show how polite British people are
64. The restaurant example shows that“sorry” can be used to____.
A. apologize
B. calm a situation down
C. explain what you're thinking about
D. ask a waiter to bring something
65. What might be a good title for this passage

C. How to Best Catch Others' Attention
D. Finding a Way out of a Difficult Situation

For anything you're about to send, ask yourself, “Would I say that to the person's face?” If the answer is no, rewrite and reread. If someone in the chat room is rude to you, you needn't fire back. You should either ignore(不理睬) the person or use your chat software to block the messages. Remember to respect the beliefs and opinions of others in the chat room.
②________ Offer advice when asked by newcomers, as they may not be sure what to do or how to communicate. When someone makes a mistake, be kind about it. If you do decide to tell someone about the mistake, point it out politely. At the same time, if you find you are wrong, be sure to correct yourself and apologize to those you have offended(冒犯). ③询问别人诸如年龄和家庭等隐私问题是不礼貌的。 Unless you know the person very well, and you are both comfortable sharing personal information, or don't ask such questions.

I used to have a friend called Matilda. We were together at secondary school. When we were 16, she moved because of her father's job, but we kept in touch. We used to write long letters to each other. I went to stay with her a couple of times too. We lost contact(联系) after university. I'd love to see her again because we used to be really good friends.
I used to hate a couple of teachers at school, but I think the one I hated most was my French teacher. He was really terrible. I don't think he liked children or even teaching. He used to be impatient with us and he didn't explain things well. I failed French—it was the only subject I ever failed at school.

I have returned to my hometown of Wilson Creek after an absence of 10 years. So many things have changed around here. When I left Wilson Creek, there was a small lake in the south east of the town. They have filled in the lake and built a large shopping mall and a swimming pool there. They have also built a new post office just across from my old school.
The baseball stadium(体育场) in the north east of Wilson Creek has also changed completely. They have now added a new stand(看台) where probably a few thousand people could sit. It looks really great.
The biggest changes have taken place in the town center. It has become a pedestrianised area(步行区) and you can't drive there anymore. They have built a large square and a cinema. There is also a new street cafe and a grassy area.
The street looks just the same as it always has been, but a public library has appeared on the next street. There used to be a park there but they have cut down all the trees, which is a pity. The library now has a large green area in front of it but it's not the same as when the park was there.
Another change is the new restaurants that have opened in Wilson Creek. A Chinese restaurant and an Italian restaurant have opened in the town center, and a Mexican restaurant has opened near my home, which is where I am going tonight!
56. The shopping mall is where a ____ used to be.

Dirar Abohoy is a 32 year old man. He spends as much time on his hands as he does on his feet. He has trained to walk on his hands from a very young age. So now he can do all kinds of unique(独一无二的)tricks with his legs in the air.
Although Dirar lives in Tigray, northern Ethiopia, he grew up watching Chinese and American movies. When he was a kid, he thought all the unique skills he saw in the movies were real. Therefore, he started to train himself in order to copy his heroes. When he grew up, he learned that most of the unique skills in his favorite films were not real. But by that time, Dirar had already become good at hand walking. So he kept on training. In an interview with BBC, Dirar said that he trains three hours in the morning, and another three in the evening. He hopes that one day he will set a Guinness Record with his skills. He can pull cars and climb mountains while standing on his hands. And he can even carry people on his back while walking on his hands. So I'm sure his dream will come true very soon.
A video of Dirar practicing his hand walking became popular on the Internet last week. And it drew mixed reactions from the public. Some people found his skills amazing.
