Introduction
In 2015, for the first time, a Chinese scientist won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. She is Tu Youyou.
Main body
Born in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province on 30 December 1930, Tu Youyou studied at Beijing Medical College (now Peking University Health Science Centre) from 1951 to 1955. Since 1955, she has worked at China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences as a tenured and chief researcher. In 1969, she worked as the leader of research team aiming to discover a treatment for malaria.
