2. I want to call you but my phone isn’t working, so I’m writing to you.
我想给你打电话，但是我的电话坏了，所以我写明信片给你。
（1）这里的 work 用来表示仪器、设备的“运行、工作”若是用于否定结构如 isn’t work，则表示某一件物品“不工作了”或“坏掉了”。如:
The bike isn’t working now.
自行车现在坏了。
（2）write to 表示“写信给某人”。如：
My friend , Tom, often writes to me.
我的朋友Tom经常写信给我。

你们的国家现在很热，对吗？
这种的句子，在陈述句后面加一个简短的问句，用来对陈述部分内容进行确认，称为反意疑问句。
例如：

回答用：Yes, it is .是的，很热。

take a photo of sb/ sth 给某人某物照相。

1) be surprised 后可接: 句子、 at sth、
to do sth 都表示“对……感到惊奇”。如：
I am surprised he is a policeman.

我们很惊讶在街上遇到了他。
to one’s surprise 令某人惊奇的是……, 如：

如: have a good trip 旅途愉快。
Have a good summer vacation 暑假愉快。

1). sit 动词，意为“坐”，是不及物动词。如 表达“坐在某地”就用介词短语来表达地 点。如：
Please sit on the chair and have some tea.
请坐在椅子上喝杯茶。
2). by 意为“在……旁边”，它所表示的位置比 near 更近一些。例如：
All the children are sitting by the table.
所有的孩子们都坐在桌子旁边。

努力学习
hard 是副词；意为“努力地”，修饰 动词。
Mary is a good student. She works hard at school.
