教材分析
本单元主要是围绕奥运会和世界纪录来展开话题，通过本单元的学习，使学生了解有关奥运会的发展历史和世界纪录的相关情况，乐于接触并了解异国文化。在学习过程中，应该让学生能够对自己感兴趣的人物或事件，勇敢地用英语表达自己的看法，感受奥运健儿和世界纪录的创造者那种努力拼搏、不断超越自己的精神。
Lesson 32 主要是由世界纪录延伸到班级记录这一话题，让学生谈论自己熟悉的班级之最，在此过程中培养他们敢于用英语表达自己熟悉人物的能力，感受他们的进取精神。
1教学重点：掌握描述班级记录的表达方式
2教学难点：如何引导学生准确表达班级记录
二、教学目标：
1 语言知识：
掌握词汇 ：thick, photograph, lift, weigh, kilo, several
2语言技能：通过本课的学习培养学生综合运用语言的能力，有效提高学生听说及阅读能力。
3 情感态度：让学生通过本课的学习，了解一些世界记录，并由此延伸到谈论班级记录这一话题，培养学生之间的竞争意识。
4 学习策略：通过听力练习、小组活动来完成听说及阅读的训练。
三、教学准备
教师准备 ：多媒体课件、录音机 、磁带
四、教学步骤
Step 1 Free Talk （about 5 min）
Ask : Can you tell us some interesting records What’s your favourite record Get some students to talk freely .
Show some interesting pictures and help the students talk .
【设计思路】：让学生谈论他们搜集到的有趣的记录，提高学生学习兴趣，同时可以检查学生上一课知识的运用情况，提高学生使用语言的能力。
Step 2 Presentation ( about 5 min )
Show some pictures and ask questions, get the students to answer the questions and understand the meanings. Then have a test.
【设计思路】：用图片新授单词，让学生可以对形象生动的画面产生深刻的印象，激发学习兴趣，调动多种感官参与学习活动，更好地理解单词意思以及在语境中的用法，并及时检测巩固。
Step 3 Leading in （about 2 min）
Ask : Have you ever set a record in your class or school
【设计思路】：由吉尼斯世界记录的话题引入班级/学校记录的话题，为本课学习做好铺垫。
Step 4 Listening（about 5 min）
Play the tape, get the students to listen and write T or F.
After listening, check the answers. Make sure that they can understand.
【设计思路】：根据听力材料设计听力测试的题目，训练学生的听力。让学生在听的同时大致了解文章内容，并根据要求记录听到的信息。
Step 5 Reading（about 10 min）
Get the students to read the lesson and write down the answers to the questions. Then check the answers.
Make sure that they can understand.
Explain the important words and expressions.
【设计思路】：提高学生阅读能力，进一步了解课文内容。
Step 6 Talking ( about 10 min )
Say : Danny has made a list of records for his class. Now let’s make a list of records of our class.
Then show some questions about the class and get the students to answer. Ask them to think of more questions and answers.
At last, get the students to work in groups, make a list of records of the class and present in class.
【设计思路】：启发引导学生讨论班级记录，在小组合作中学习使用正确的语言进行表述，培养合作意识。
Step 7 Writing : ( about 5 min )
Get the students to write down a short passage about their class records and their favourite records. Ask several students to read in class.
【设计思路】：让学生将本课所学内容由口头表达转化为笔头练习， 形成知识的输出，提高写作能力。
Step 8 Summary and Homework （about 2 min）
Sum up what we have learnt in class.
Ask the students to write down more class records and talk about them.
【设计思路】：让学生课下搜集更多班级记录，复习巩固本课内容。
