Lesson 35: The Dream Team

一.教材分析:
1. 单元及课文分析
本单元主要是围绕奥运会和世界纪录来展开话题,通过本单元的学习,使学生了解有关奥运会的发展历史和世界纪录的相关情况,乐于接触并了解异国文化。在学习过程中,应该让学生能够对自己感兴趣的人物或事件,勇敢地用英语表达自己的看法,感受奥运健儿和世界纪录的创造者那种努力拼搏、不断超越自己的精神。
Lesson 35 是在谈论各国的“梦之队”。让孩子们体会到一支梦之队不仅要有最优秀的运动员、教练员,还要有最好的团队精神。而我们在学习和生活中也要具有合作精神。
2.教学目标
语言技能:掌握描述体育队伍的相关词汇与语句,并就自己喜欢的梦之队进行简单介绍。
掌握词汇:gold, influence, coach,
接触词汇:defeat, medal, Brazil, diving, badminton
短语:dream team, have an influence on, time after time
情感态度: 通过对课文的学习培养孩子们的爱国情操和合作精神。
3.教学重点:了解各国“梦之队”的相关信息,并学习其努力拼搏、团结合
作的精神。
教学难点:根据所学知识,准确恰当地用英语描述一支体育队伍。
4.学习策略:鼓励学生通过观察、模仿、体验、探究、展示等方式学习与合
作学习。
二.教学准备:
磁带,录音机,多媒体
三.教学步骤:
Step 1. Class Opening
I. A Guess Game --- Let’s Do It! No. 4(About 3 minutes)
Divide the class into groups. One at a time group members take turns acting a sport while the others try and guess what sport it is. The first person to guess correctly wins and takes a turn acting out another sport.
Maybe they will talk about the sport: football/soccer.

II. New words(About 5 minutes)
Ask the students to give the answers:
1) When we talk about the World Cup, we will think of a country---Brazil
2) When we talk about Lin Dan, we will think of a sport----badminton
3) When we talk about Guo Jingjing, we will think of a sport---diving
4) Compare Lin Dan and Guo Jingjing:
Both Lin Dan and Guo Jingjing won gold medals in the Olympics.
Both of them defeated many players.
They both had an influence on others.
And of course, either of them has a good coach.
And their teams are both dream teams in China.
Explain the new words in this lesson if necessary.

Step 2. Listen (About 5 minutes)
Teacher:Today we will learn something about the dream team.
And then show the title of this lesson---The Dream Team.( Write The Dream Team on the board.)
First please listen carefully and tell me true or false.
The U.S. basketball team is considered to be the dream team.( )
1. Play the tape for the students and let them listen carefully. Write true or false while listening.
2. Check the answers as a class.

3.Ask the students to listen again and match the countries with the sports of their dream teams.

Step 3. Read (About 15 minutes)
1) Read Lesson 35 silently and try to find out the answers to the questions.
What is a dream team
What does a dream team have
How can the players perform better
2) Then make the students answer the questions with a partner.
3) Discuss the answers as a class.
【设计思路:默读课文并根据问题在课文中找答案、捕捉信息,可以提升学生的阅读理解能力,对课文加深了解。】
Step 4. Practice(About 3 minutes)
Ask the students to fill in the blanks with the useful expresions in this lesson.
1) Complete the clues and do the crossword.
2) Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the words or phrases in the box.
【设计思路:将本课时中应该掌握的词汇与短语进行挖空练习,提醒学生掌握本课的重点语言知识。】
Step 5.Task (About 15 minutes)
T: As we all know from this lesson, there are so many dream teams, such as the diving team in China, the ping pong team in China, the badminton team in China, the basketball team in the U.S., the soccer team in Brazil, etc. Talk about one dream team that interests you and write a magazine article about them.
Show an example to the students first and let them discuss in groups to finish the passage with the help of the following questions.
(1)What sport do they play
(2)Why do they call them the dream team
(3)Who are the star players on the team
(4) …
Ask each group to present their article to the class if there’s enough time.

Step 6 Homework
Write down the article on the exercise book.
