3.G 根据下文“But there is a danger that people incorrectly think housework is proper exercise.”可知此处应选“It says any activity is better than none.”
4.D 根据上一句“A total of 4,563 adults took a survey about their weekly physical activity.”,指做了一项调查,故此处应指出调查的结果,为“The research showed that...”。

A.An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
B.Taking a swim after eating will threat your life,
C.Eating more carrots improves your health.
D.Going out in the cold with wet hair causes sickness.
E.Lightning never strikes the same place twice.
F.More crime occurs during a full moon.
Old Wives' Tales Proven Untrue
We all grew up with sayings that were intended to frighten us into being good or convince us to eat better.Looking back, some of these childhood proverbs don’t even make much sense.(Ever hear the claim that swallowed gum stays in your stomach for seven years? Uh-huh, sure.)However, there are quite a few out there that people still believe in.That's why we decided to investigate some common old wives' tales to see how they hold up under scientific scrutiny. From the moon's affect on crimes to the true causes of colds, this list is sure to surprise even the most enlightened among you.
61.
False: Countless kids were scared into thinking that if they went back in the water less than 60 minutes after eating, they would suddenly cramp up (the muscles get suddenly tightened) and drown. But according to MayoClinic.com, it's perfectly safe to swim after you eat a light meal or snack. The site does recommend taking a short break after eating a big meal, however, not because of cramping, but due to extreme lack of energy. As is known to us all, after eating, more of our blood goes to help the digestive system.
62.
Partially True: This saying has been around since before the discovery of an apple's vital nutrients: Vitamin C and polyphenols.Regardless, the core of the matter is that while this fruit will help keep you well, it's not always enough to keep you out of the medical danger zone; When you're ill, your body requires nutrients from all the different types of food in a well-balanced diet, including fruits, vegetables, yogurt, protein and, of course, chicken soup.Only one kind of specific fruit or food can not solve all the problems.
63.
False: According to the National Weather Service, lightning can strike the same place numerous times, especially if it's a tall, pointed and isolated object. For example, the EmPire State Building, a skyscraper on Fifth Avenue, New York City, USA, which was for long the tallest building in the world, 'is hit an average of 25 times a year. That is the reason why it was once used as a lightning laboratory. Lightning often strikes more than three miles from the thunderstorm and laughs at two inches of rubber!
64.
False: Neither wet nor dry hair significantly increases your chances of getting sick.WebM D.com says colds are solely caused when viruses are passed from one person to another, so you should be more concerned with how often you wash your hands, not your hair. A proper way to keep healthy is to develop good personal habits of life.Prevention is always the best cure, better than any drug and treatment.
65.
False: Many interesting things are thought to increase during a full moon emergency room visits, accidents, ability to have babies, werewolves.Almost all these phenomena are attributed to the Lunar Effect, which tries to link unusual, unbelievable, or unacceptable behavior and the phases of the moon. However, according to myth-buster and syndicated columnist, Cecil Adams, there is no truth at all behind the theory.

[1]If doctors want to test you for something, they’ll usually take a blood or urine(尿)sample. But wouldn’t it be much more convenient if they just asked you to breathe through a special instrument.
[2]In fact, your breath can say a lot about you.In traditional Chinese medicine, doctors draw a conclusion about the health state of a patient based on the smell of his or her breath;trained dogs and rats can identify the smells of the breaths of people suffering from certain cancers;traffic police also monitor drivers’alcohol consumption_______________________.
[3]Just like blood and urine, your breath contains lots of“lnetabolites(代谢物)”-the waste chemicals that the body produces, which vary from person to person. They are like personal health fingerprints, which is why scientists sometimes call them“breathprints”,according to Science Daily.
[4]Compared to blood or urine testing, breath testing takes only seconds instead of hours, and it requires neither a needle nor a container to hold the bodily fluids. This means the test can be taken frequently to better detect(检测)early signs of diseases and monitor the progress of a medical treatment.
[5]On the other hand,as an identifier, you might think that breaths are not as reliable as
fingerprints since they might change based on what you eat. However, researchers in Zurich,
Switzerland mapped 11 healthy volunteers’chemical patterns by having them breathe through a special instrument, and they found that each pattern was unique and the patterns didn’t change much throughout the day, reported BBC.
[6]“Our goal is to develop breath analysis to the point where it becomes competitive with the established analysis of blood and urine,”said Malcolm Kohler, professor at the University Hospital Zurich.

A. Sitting at the back means fewer food options.
B. Flight attendants get paid only for flight hours.
C. Flight attendants’ job is to keep passengers safe.
D. Flight attendants might water down your drinks.
E. Flight attendants are trained to identify criminals.
F. The seat-belt sign is “on” far longer than necessary.
Things An Air Hostess Won't Tell You
To make things a bit easier for them and ensure a smooth flight, many Flight attendants have little tricks under their sleeves. Here are some of them which they won't tell you out of sheer politeness.
【小题1】__________
Contrary to what most people think, a flight attendant's primary job is to ensure your safety - the helping and serving part of their job are just add-ons. If they are assisting you with your luggage, it is to make sure it is stored properly and does not harm anyone. They are not required to lift your bags or help you take them elsewhere. All the other assistance, such as providing you with a drink, handing you hot towels, etc., are to make sure you stay calm and satisfied.
【小题2】__________
As unfair as it may seem, the time that a flight attendant spends in getting the plane ready, settling you down, etc., is not included in their salary. They do, however, receive some expense allowance(津贴) for the entire time they clock in - it is a pretty small income though
【小题3】__________
If a flight attendant feels a passenger is ordering too many drinks, and getting drunk, they might avoid serving him/her by avoiding eye contact. When that fails, they might just fill the glass half-way or give him/her a diluted (稀释的) drink
【小题4】__________
A number of training programs and workshops exist to train flight attendants in different aspects. As some people are using flights more and more to smuggle (走私), flight attendants are being regarded as the first line of defense against this heinous (邪恶的)crime. The benefits are already evident - a number of dangers are avoided, thanks to alert(警惕的) flight attendants on board
【小题5】__________
This is a bit unfortunate for those sitting at the back of the plane, but nevertheless true. As the attendants start serving from the front of the plane to the back, the variety of drinks or meals might go down. This is because a plane has limited space, only a certain number of items can be stored, and by the time they get to the back of the plane, they run out of at least a few of the options.

[1] Mother’s Day is a holiday that’s supposed to celebrate the precious relationship between a mother and her child. If you have a strong desire to buy her a gift for that Day, I’ve come up with some ideas that will work for you to show your mom how much you value that relationship.
[2] Spend time with your mom. Most moms I know want to hear from their kids more than they do. You can even do this if you live far away from your mom. Give her a call at times and ask her about herself, how her days are going and what she’s feeling. Focus on hearing her heart. After all, this is the woman who birthed you...maybe knowing her will help you know yourself better, and that’s never a bad thing.
[3] Write down your memories of her. Many moms love to know what their kids remember from childhood and how they distinguished the things that happened then. Make a list of these for your mom and give it to her. Or, tear each memory off in a strip, fold it up and put it in a jar. Give her the sealed jar for Mother’s Day, and she can pull out a memory every day until they’re gone.
[4] Take photos with her. Was your mom one of those people who has every family event for the last 30 years documented in extensive photographic detail? Then spend some time getting pictures taken with her. Take her to a favorite park or garden, or do it in your own backyard. Your poses can be silly or quiet, but no matter how they turn out, taking them will make your mom’s day.
[5] Clean her house. I know a few people who like to clean, but even they can find it overwhelming when life gets busy. So pick up a bucket and a mop and show mom that you really do remember all her lessons on cleaning the house. Although it takes up your time, every little thing you’ve done is meaningful for your mom.

Going up to a university to study for a degree means you have decided to study professionally, rather than as an amateur;so being a student is now your profession for at least the next four years.
This involves a change of attitude in many ways. Now,instead of taking several subjects, you have chosen one major subject because you find it interesting and worth exploring further. You also have before you achieve the goal of getting a degree. The degree and the stages you have to pass through to achieve it give you motivation. You are no longer forced to stay in school all day,and apart from your class time, you organize your own time and place for studying.
Another change is in the relationship with those who teach you.You are there to study actively rather than to be taught passively.Your teachers may or may not urge you,but they do want you to share their interest in the subject and they want you to succeed. If you get work back with a poorer mark than you expected and with various criticisms, don’t feel discouraged by this;if you don’t understand what is wrong and how to improve, ask your teacher to explain and don’t be satisfied until you do understand.
Professionalism involves training and practicing. Some activities, like reading,note-taking,speaking and discussing are basic to studying.Make sure you can do these effectively. You have to use time well, and practice to improve your skills.
Effective reading is part of your training.Since it is a learned skill we can change the way we did since in primary school and relearn it.Learn how to read fast-how to read with your eyes rather than your throat, how to ignore words like“of” and “the”,and how to keep what you read.
You take notes in class for yourself, not for anyone else,so make your notes easy to read, economicalandpleasing to the eye.Vary the arrangement on the page to suit the material(diagrams, columns, underlining),use colored pens for different topics to catch the eye and make things stand out.Work out your own shorthand speedwriting.
Group discussions give you a chance to train your ability to express yourself.Don't be the non-speaking member of the group.Take an active part in the discussion. In the future you are almost certainly going to have to be good at speaking,so get into the way of talking about your subject now. This is actually more fun than sitting being silently uncomfortable.Nobody will think what you say is foolish.Everyone will be thankful not to face embarrassing silence.
1. Theme/Outline [
2.degree [

Directions: Read the passage carefully. Then answer the questions or complete the statements in the fewest possible words.
How many hours do you spend sitting in a chair every day? Eight hours in the office plus three hours in front of the TV after work is the usual situation for many people.
You probably don’t need an expert to tell you that sitting too much is not good for your health —from an increased risk of heart disease and obesity(肥胖) in the long term, to reduced cholesterol(胆固醇) maintenance in the short term, not to mention the pressure on your neck and spine(脊柱).
To make matters worse, a growing body of research suggests that the negative effects of sitting too much cannot be countered with a good diet and regular exercise, according to an article in The New York Times. The article reported that a study of nearly 9, 000 Australians found that for each additional hour of television a person watched per day, the risk of dying rose by 11 percent. In other words, sitting is killing us.
Stand up for health. Health experts suggest we break up those many hours spent sitting with more hours spent standing.
The BBC and the University of Chester in the UK conducted a simple experiment with a small group of 10 volunteers who usually spent most of the day sitting. They were asked to stand for at least three hours a day. The researchers took measurements on days when the volunteers stood, and when they sat around. When they looked at the data, there were some striking differences. Blood sugar became level after a meal much quicker on the days when the volunteers in the study stood compared with the days they spent in a chair. Standing also burned more calories(热量单位:卡路里)—about 50 calories an hour. Over the course of a year that would add up to about 30, 000 extra calories, or around 3.63 kilograms of fat.
John Buckley, a member of the research team, said that although doing exercise offers many proven benefits, our bodies also need the constant, almost imperceptible(感觉不到的) increase in muscle activity that standing provides. Simple movement helps us to keep our all-important blood sugar under control.
The researchers believe that even small adjustments, like standing while talking on the phone, going over to talk to a colleague rather than sending an e-mail, or simply taking the stairs instead of the elevator, will help.
(Note: Answer the questions or complete the statements in NO MORE THAN TEN WORDS.)
78. According to the context, the underlined expression “be countered with” in Paragraph 3 can best be replaced by “________”.
79. The two findings of the simple experiment conducted by the BBC and the University of Chester in the UK are that standing _________.
80. Why is standing better than doing exercise according to John Buckley?
81. What does the passage mainly want to tell us?
78. be prevented/reduced by
79. helps blood sugar become level quicker and burns more calories
80. Standing provides the constant, almost imperceptible increase in muscle activity. /Standing provides simple movement that keeps blood sugar under control.
81. People should stand for health instead of sitting too much. / We should spend less time sitting and more time standing. / Sitting too much is killing us.

One of the most popular vacation destinations for young families is the home of relatives. __1__ Here are some tips for making sure you are invited back again.
Be considerate
Every family has their own way of doing things. Keep these things in mind when you're visiting.
If your host family are early to bed and early to rise, don't keep them up talking until one o'clock in the morning.
If your host family gets angry about kids running wild, either plan to keep a close eye on your kids or plan to stay somewhere else. __2__
Offer to help out
Playing host to a family with children can be quite a challenge. Make sure you help lighten the load.
__3__ Offer to help with cooking and cleanup. Make your beds and run to the store for milk. Better yet, don't ask. Just start working.
Help pay for food
This may not apply, if you're visiting parents and they insist on paying for everything and they can afford it. __4__ Use your judgment when it comes to parents. However, if you're visiting cousins, it will be a great help to them if you buy your share of the food.
Show your appreciation
No matter whom you are visiting, make sure you let them know you appreciate their hospitality(盛情招待). __5__ Or leave some fresh flowers when you leave. If you don't have enough money, write them a letter, letting them know how much fun you had and how much you appreciate them.
A.Don't expect your hosts to supply your every need.
B.Offer to take them out to dinner on your last night in town.
C.Make sure you don't leave your things behind while visiting a family.
D.In that case you may hurt your parents if you insist on paying for food.
E.Try not to disturb someone who is in the middle of exams.
F.Staying with relatives is a great way to save money while getting away from home for a while.
G.Having a talk with your children about expected behavior while visiting is always a good idea.

You want to pass on to him/her as the foundation for your rules. Select the most important matters to make rules about.
If you want your kids to stick to the rules, make them participate in setting them up. As soon as children begin to understand things around them, make them take part in the discussion about setting up rules. If you’ve allotted (分配) an hour every day for watching television, explain to the child why you think it’s a proper duration. Tell them what they’d have to do for the rest of the time. Allotting time for homework, playing with friends, etc., must be done with the child’s participation. You can also explain the need to have a particular rule and the consequences of disobeying the rule during this discussion. The rules will then become more effective.
Once the list of rules is ready, make an artwork out of it and ensure that the kids get to see it easily while going about the house. You can hang it up behind the door to their room. Revise the rules whenever there is need, not very frequently though. After a few months, when you see that the kids are taking to a certain rule quite easily and without supervision, you may praise them for it and get rid of that rule from the list. You just need to emphasize that while you’re proud that the rule needs no reminding, it’s still an unwritten rule. These actions will enable the kids to place you in their circle of trust.
Enforcement (执行) of rules is possible only if there are clear consequences for disobeying them. Ensure that your kids understand that the consequence is the price they have to pay for breaking the rules and it’s not a punishment. Not following the rule will result in a minor or major inconvenience, so make sure you explain the consequences clearly in advance and start with warnings before strictly enforcing the rules. Ensure that none of your consequences for disobeying the rules border (近似于) on abusive parenting. For example, take off the rule that says — “if you don’t get home by 11 at night, make arrangements to stay elsewhere until morning”. Let helping with minor household chores or cleaning up their own room, etc., serve as consequences for disobeying rules.
With these tips on how to make house rules, hope you can direct your child to become a responsible and independent human being.

She’s planning to buy an eco-friendly dish soap with the natural fragrance of aloe. If the producer cares about nature protection, she will put more trust in this brand.

Directions: Read the following passage. Fill in the numbered blanks by using the information fromthe passage.
Write NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS for each answer.
Food makes us feel good, but some people eat when they aren’t really hungry and eat to simply feel good. This kind of eating habit is called emotional eating, which does not affect adults but also young children. It isn’t a good thing.
A child’s eating habits can develop right from childhood. As we know, a baby cries out if he doesn’t get milk at the usual time of the day. However, sometimes parents immediately stick a bottle in a child’s mouth without trying to find out if the child is really hungry. In fact, children may cry for other reasons. Even as children grow up and start going to school, parents sometimes give them a chocolate bar if they become really unhappy. As the children further grow up, they may become used to having a snack whenever they’re upset or low.
Therefore, they’d like to eat an emotional snack when they have the feeling of unhappiness and boredom. Even when they don’t get high grades, aren’t popular at school or made fun of by others, they will want something to eat. After having the snack, they feel a lot better.
Emotional eating in young children is a thing that needs to be taken seriously. To protect your children from emotional eating, you should satisfy your child’s emotional needs in the best possible way. This includes spending time with your child every day, taking an interest in his school work, helping your child study, providing a health environment without tension at home, etc. Don’t make the child lose face by scolding him. Develop confidence in your child. Make your child eat enough once in a while. Reward him for his achievements.
All this will help your little one develop a healthy eating habit. And always remember love and care is the key to help you child out of trouble and grow up happily.

Sam Walton, the founder of Wal-Mart, was born in Kingfish, Oklahoma on March 29, 1918. He was raised in Missouri where he worked in his father’s store while attending school. This was his first retailing (零售业) experience and he really enjoyed it. After graduation, he began his own career as a retail merchant.
He soon opened his first Wal-Mart store in 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas. Wal-Mart specialized in name brands at low prices and Sam Walton was surprised at the success. Soon a chain of Wal-Mart stores sprang up across rural America.
Walton's management style was popular with employees and he founded some of the basic concepts of management that are still in use today.
After taking the company public in 1970, Walton introduced his “profit sharing plan”. The profit sharing plan was a plan for Wal-Mart employees to improve their income dependent on the profits of the store. Sam Walton believed that “individuals don't win, teams do”. Employees at Wal-Mart stores were offered stock options (认股权) and store discounts. These benefits are commonplace today, but Walton was among the first to implement (实现) them. Walton believed that a happy employee meant happy customers and more sales. He also believed that by giving employees a part of the company and making their success dependent on the company’s success, they would care about the company.
By the 1980s, Wal-Mart had sales of over one billion dollars and over three hundred stores across North America. Wal-Mart’s unique decentralized (分散的) distribution system, also Walton’s idea, created the?edge?needed to further encourage growth in the 1980s during growing complaints that the “superstore” was stopping smaller and traditional stores from developing. By 1991, Wal-Mart was the largest US retailer with 1,700 stores. Walton remained active in managing the company, as president and CEO until 1988 and chairman until his death.
