For years, people have believed that an area of the Atlantic Ocean between Bermuda, Puerto Rico
and Florida, the USA, was a dangerous place. 1. _ By 1964, a writer had called the area the “Bermuda Triangle(百慕大三角)”.
In 1945, five US Navy planes, called Flight19, took off from Florida and never came back. After they disappeared into the Bermuda Triangle, different ideas had begun to spread that the area was a dangerous place. Even before this famous flight, several ships had disappeared in these waters. 2. _ Some people even believed that a huge octopus(章鱼) was responsible!

And many researchers believe that there's no mystery at all. Ships go down and plane accidents happen all over the world. It just seems to happen more in the Bermuda Triangle because there's more traffic.
The Bermuda Triangle is also one of the deepest areas of the Atlantic. 4. _ So, remains are hard to find, which makes the disappearances(消失) seem even more mysterious. In 2011, the Flight 19 planes were found. That shows that they didn't disappear. But no matter how much evidence(证据) there is that the Bermuda Triangle is no more dangerous than any other part of the ocean, many still believe that you mustn't go there.
A. Some areas are about 8 km deep.

“Everything happens for the best,” my mother said whenever I faced disappointment. “Don't worry. One day your luck will change.”
I found Mom was right after I finished my college education. I had decided to try for a job at a radio station. I wanted to host a sports program
one day. I went to Chicago and knocked at the door of every station. But I got turned down every time.
At one station, a kind lady said my problem was that I didn't have enough experience. “Get some work at a small station and work your way up,” she said.
I went back home. I couldn't get a job there, either. Then my dad said a businessman had opened a store and needed someone to help him. But again, I didn't get the job.
I felt really down. “Your luck will change,” Mom said to me. I tried another radio station in Iowa. But the owner told me he had already had someone. As I left his office, I asked, “How can someone be a sports announcer(播音员) if he can't get a job at a radio station ”
I was waiting for the lift when the man called, “What did you mean Do you know anything about football ” He put me in front of a microphone and asked me to try to imagine that I was giving my opinion on a football game. I succeeded.
On my way home, Mom's words came back to me, “One day your luck will change, Son. And when it happens, it will be doubly(加倍地) good because of all the hard work you' ve done.” At that moment I just knew what she meant.
