1．so… that…. 如此的…以致于…
so + 形容词/副词 that + 句子 引导的结果状语从句 如：The girl is so beautiful that everybody likes her.这个小女孩太漂亮了，每个人都喜欢她。This teacher is so kind that we all like him. 这个老师非常和谒，我们都喜欢他。He ran so quickly that we all couldn’t catch up with him. 他跑得很快，我们都追不上他。He is so old that he can't work. 他太老了，不能工作。The box is so heavy that I can't lift it.箱子太沉了，我抬不起来。He has so many books that I can’t count them. 他有很多书，我数也数不清。There was so much food that we couldn’t eat it all. 食物太多了，我们吃不完。I have so little money that I cannot afford a car. 我的钱太少，买不起车。注意：有时在so...that...引导的结果状语从句中that在口语中常省略The climber was so tired, (that) he could hardly stand alone.这位爬山者很累，他几乎都站不住了。
2．such… that…. 如此的…以致于…
such+(a/an)+形容词+ 名词 + that+句子 引导的结果状语从句 如：He is such a young boy that he can't go to schoolIt was such a cold day that we did not want to go out．天太冷了，我们都不想出去。This was such an interesting play that I saw it several times．这个话剧十分有趣，所以我看过好几次。They are such good students that the teacher likes them. 他们都是好学生，老师很喜欢他们。He told us such a funny story that we all laughed.他讲了一个如此滑稽的故事，引得大家都笑起来.注意：在“such...that...”句型中, such修饰名词, 意思也是“如此…以致于…” 但当名词前有many、much、(a) few、(a) little等词修饰时,句子中要用“so...that...”而不能用“such...that...”. 如：He has so much money that he can buy what he wanted. 他有那么多钱，可以买他想要的东西。I've had so many falls that I have pains here and there. 我摔了很多跤，到处都疼。There is so little water in the glass that I can't drink any more. 杯子里几乎没有水了，我不能再喝了。There were so few people on the street that the street seemed lonely.街上没几个人，显得冷清。另外，“such+a(n)形容词+名词单数”=“so+形容词+a(n)+名词单数”Mr.Miller is such a busy man that he can’t leave his office.=Mr.Miller is so busy a man that he can’t leave his office.米勒先生是个大忙人，离不开办公室.
3． so that 以便于
1）so that“以便，为了”，引导一个表示目的的状语从句，此时可与 in order that换用；从句中常用情态动词 may/might, can/could, should, would 等；主从句间连接紧凑，没有逗号相隔。如：　　父亲六十岁时才开始学习电脑，以便跟上时代。My old father began to study computer at the age of sixty so that he might keep up with times.
