Nowadays, it seems that we cannot live without technology. We learn, work and relax by using phones, computers, iPads, AI robots and so on. Now, let's see what's going on in Julie's life.
Julie usually wakes up at the ring of a mobile phone. Then, she eats her breakfast to a video on the phone. When she gets to her company, she deals with the business on the computer. And she often downloads(下载) and stores things that she needs on her iPad. When she needs something, she can just turn on the iPad and search for it. She carries the iPad wherever she is on business because it's light. When she is at home in the evening, she sometimes uses ChatGPT, a smart AI chat robot, to write her projects. She only needs to type in some key words and then she can get some ideas in a second. It can make her use less time to do more things. In the late evening, she always falls asleep at the soft music from Xiaodu.
Julie lives with technology, and so do we, However, technology brings us some problems at the same time. Staring at screens too much is bad for our eyes. Many of us are near-sighted(近视的) or have other eye problems. AI is making some of us unwilling to think and explore on our own. We may copy ideas from AI robots. We may even like chatting in the virtual(虚拟的) world better because of so many chat robots.
So, I think that technology is a double-sided sword( 双 刃 剑 ). We should use technology correctly and wisely to make our life easy, colorful and convenient.(E9306003)

black shuttle pot” Well, it's no stranger to (1) everyone born in China before the 1990s. It was quite common for them to see the machine in streets when they
were young. Waiting to eat popcorn beside the machine has been one of their childhood(2) .
The machine was invented more than 100 years ago and enjoyed great (3) very soon. Whenever it appeared on the street, it would bring many children together. They waited excitedly for the(4) sound, BANG! It meant the popcorn was(5) , At the same time, the aroma(香味) of the popcorn would fill the air.
Today, fewer and fewer“black shuttle pots” can be seen. Here are some reasons. The first one is the(6) of some modern popcorn machines. Second, few people know how to use the old-style popcorn machine skillfully and safely,
Do you know how the machine works Let me tell you about it. To make the popcorn, people first need to put corn and sugar in the pot and get it (7) to avoid the ingredients inside coming out. Then they heat it on the fire. As the temperature in the pot keeps becoming (8) , the corn becomes soft. Then when the pressure in the pot rises to 4-5 Pa, it's time to open the pot. In 1665,a fresh round of the plague(瘟疫) spread all over London, England. To deal with the dangerous situation, London closed the schools and even the University of Cambridge. In the same year, Isaac Newton graduated(毕业).(1) There he made some of his most important discoveries, like his thoughts about falling apples.
The apple was falling straight down, not sideways. That meant whatever the Earth was doing to the apple(let's go ahead and call it“gravity(重力)”), that gravity acted as if it had been coming from the center of the planet.
Whatever this gravity was, Newton guessed it might be a common property of matter(物质属性), not something special to the Earth alone. That meant not only did the Earth have a force of gravity, but so did the apple. (3)
For ages, thinkers had thought that there was gravity only near the surface of the Earth.(4) However, Newton came up with a whole new idea: what if the gravity of the Earth extended (延伸) through the surface, through the clouds, and extended forever
Several years later, Newton expressed his opinion in his book called Principia Mathematica.(5) Then he was able to use the simple idea included in them to explain everything, from the speed of the Moon to the change of the ocean tides.
A. And maybe everything did.
B. No doubt it was a competition between talents.
C. In it, Newton introduced his thoughts of gravity.
D. That made it possible to understand the fact that rocks fall but clouds don't.
E. When Newton watched an apple fall from a tree, he got a sudden thought.
F. Because of the closedown, he always stayed on his mom's farm in Lincolnshire.
