The secretary told me that Mr. Harmsworth would see me.
I felt very nervous when I went into his office.
He did not look up from his desk when I entered.
After I had sat down, he said that business was very bad.
He told me that the firm could not afford to pay such large salaries.
Twenty people had already left.
I knew that my turn had come.
'Mr. Harmsworth,' I said in a weak voice.
'Don't interrupt,' he said.
Then he smiled and told me I would receive an extra thousand pounds a year!

如此：such & so
such后面主要是修饰名词。即：such＋a/an＋adj.＋n.或a/an＋such＋adj.＋n.。如果名词是不可数名词或复数名词，则不可以用不定冠词a或an。如：
so后面只能跟形容词或副词。so＋adj.或adv.不过，so后面也可以跟名词，但该名词必须是单数可数名词。用法为：so+形容词+a或an+单数可数名词。

3.The tiger is so big. And the cat is so small.
4.She is so lovely a girl.

最灵活的是more,可以放数词和名词之间，甚至可以放在整个名词的后面;
extra和other一定放在数词和名词之间;

引述别人话语的两种方式:
一是原封不动地引用原话,把它放在括号内

二是用自己的话加以转述, 这叫间接引语.
