Sometimes you might feel it impossible to get on with your parents. But in fact, it isn't as difficult as you think. Follow these ways, and then you'll improve your relationship with them.
Spend more time with your parents. Your parents won't always be around, so try to spend more time with them. This doesn't mean just sitting in front of the TV together. Instead, you should do more activities with your parents together. By doing them, all of you will feel happy and relaxed.
Talk with your parents more often. In order to understand them better, you should talk with them more often. Try to learn more about them.
Always listen to your parents. This may seem simple, but it's often harder than you think. Look at your parents when they are talking. Don't interrupt(打断) them, and then speak clearly when replying to them.
Share your feelings with your parents. Sometimes your parents also want to learn more about you. Just do your best to open your heart to them. When possible, talk to them about something at school or what you really want to be in the future.

Anger isn't a good feeling. Anger may make us feel uncomfortable, but it's also normal. Unluckily, many of us have been used to keeping our feelings hidden(隐藏). A research suggests that this can have long term bad influences(影响) on our health.
Is it better to cry or break things whenever something makes us angry The research points out that when we show our anger in this way, we can't probably get on well with our friends and our family. The more time we keep being angry, the worse result we'll get. So how can we deal with(处理) our angry feelings in a right way
First, know what makes us angry. Anger is often caused by feelings of fear, disappointment(失望) and so on.
Also, pay closer attention to those everyday things that will make us angry. We may get angry in the long lines at the store. Take a step back and consider that it isn't personal. Everyone in the line has dinner to make, just like us.
One way of dealing with anger is to talk about it. The study has shown that if we name our feelings,we can actually calm ourselves down and feel better.

To: Carla@ From: Eric@
Subject:Help! Date:15/04/2025 9:05 a.m.
Dear Aunt Carla,I'm having a problem with my classmate, Joan, at school. The other day I wrote an e mail to another classmate, Beth, in which I said something about Joan that perhaps wasn't very nice. Unluckily, when Beth was writing back to me, she sent it to Joan@, which is Joan's e mail address! Now Joan is really angry with me and won't talk to me, and Beth is unhappy as well. She has said sorry to me a hundred times already, but the harm is done. I feel bad, because I would never have said those things to Joan's face, but how do I get her to forgive me What should I do Eric
To: Eric@ From: Carla@
Subject:Some advice Date:16/04/2025 8:30 a.m.
Dear Eric,This problem is more common than you might think! E mail is very useful, but also very dangerous,as you don't know where your message might end up! First of all, you should say sorry right away to Joan. Explain that it was a mistake, and that you didn't mean to hurt her feelings. It may take time for her to be able to forgive you, but that's up to her. Then you might want to do something nice for her. Perhaps send her some flowers to show that you're truly sorry. Also, you should remember an old saying: “If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.” And good luck!Carla

Ⅱ.短文阅读
Everyone has their own feelings, but not everyone shares feelings properly.
First, you have to be in control of those feelings. Sometimes it may be hard, but you can always have self control. Self control means having control over your feelings and actions. Actions that hurt people make things worse, not better. Controlling your feelings does not mean ignoring(忽视) them. It means following the social rules for good communication. You can share your feelings, talk about what you want, and work things out with the other people.
Second, I messages are the best way to tell someone how you feel or what you think. You begin with the word “I” and then talk about yourself. One example is “I won't go to that playground because I don't feel safe there.”
Listening is also an important part of good communication. You should always listen politely to the person you are speaking with. That person also has feelings to share. You can show that you understand by nodding your head and answering thoughtfully. Understanding isn't the same thing as agreeing.
Sometimes when you listen, you learn that you made a mistake. The right way to solve that is to say that you are sorry. After you say you're sorry, try to make the situation better. If you broke something, fix it up if you can. If you forgot to do something, try again. With a little practice, you can learn to use good communication skills every day!
( )4.Which of the following is an I message
A.You helped me so much.
B.What about having a try
C.I'm happy because we win.
D.Don't make the same mistake.
( )5.What do we need to do when listening
A.Listen politely.
B.Make a mistake.
C.Control the talker.
D.Agree with the talker.
( )6.What should we do first when we find we made a mistake
A.Say we are sorry.
B.Ignore the mistake.
C.Remember the mistake.
D.Try to make the situation better.
