Spending more than two hours a night doing homework leads to better results in English, math and science, according to a major study (by Pam Sammons,England) which has tracked(跟踪) the progress of 3,000 children over the past 15 years.
Spending any time doing homework showed advantages, but the influence was greater for the students who put in two to three hours a night, according to the study published by the Department for Education in England.

Pam Sammons,a professor of education at Oxford University, said that the time spent on homework showed the influence of the school—if children were expected to do homework and if they enjoyed their subjects.“That’s one of the reasons why Indian and Chinese children do better. They spend more time on it,”he added.
It’s also reported that students who enjoyed school got better results.“Schools could make sure children had a better experience by improving the school environment, making schoolwork interesting and making children feel supported by teachers,”Sammons said.
It is suggested that children aged 5 to 7 should be set one-hour homework a week, half an hour a night for 7 to 11-year-olds.Secondary schools were encouraged to set up two hours a night for 14 to 16-year-olds.

Find Your Own Way to Learn English
There are many ways to learn English, but everyone should have their own ways.
As for me,I had much difficulty in learning English at first. For example,I had trouble pronouncing and spelling words correctly before. And I couldn’t understand what people said when they were talking fast.I often made mistakes in grammar and read very slowly.
But now I have found some ways to improve my English.I make word cards for each unit and keep the words in mind.I listen to English tapes every day to practice my listening. Now,I can understand most of what people talk about.I also borrow English books and read them after class. What’s more, the most important thing to learn English well,I think,is to keep our minds on listening to the teacher in class,so that we can improve our English.
All in all,it’s necessary for us to learn English well.It will be easy for us to communicate with English-speaking people fluently. And it will be convenient for us to study or work abroad.
