1. fascinating 迷人的;极有吸引力的
fascinating 形容词,意为“迷人的;极有吸引力的”,通常用来作表
语和定语。作表语时,主语通常是物。
e.g. Your ideas are fascinating. 你的想法很吸引人。
【拓展】
①fascinate 及物动词,意为“使……着迷,使……极感兴趣”。
e.g. The toys in the shop window fascinated the children. 商店橱 窗里的玩具吸引了孩子们。

② fascination 既可作可数名词,又可作不可数名词,意为“魅力,
极大的吸引力”。
e.g. Chinese art has a great fascination for me. 对我来说,中国艺
术有非常大的吸引力。
③ fascinated 形容词,意为“着迷的”,主语通常是人。
e.g. I used to be fascinated with dinosaurs. 我过去对恐龙很着迷。
2. inexpensive 不昂贵的
inexpensive 形容词,意为“不昂贵的”,其同义词为 cheap,反义词为
expensive/dear。
inexpensive 是由词根 expensive 加上前缀 in- 构成的。
e.g. The sweater is inexpensive. 这件毛衣不贵。
【拓展】(1)在一个单词的前面或后面加上一个词缀构成新词,这种构
词法就做派生法。
加在单词前的词缀叫前缀,加在单词后面的词缀叫后缀。前缀一般
不引起词性的转变,而只是引起意思上的变化。如:expert 熟练的
→inexpert不熟练的;complete完善的→incomplete不完善的;possible
可能的→ impossible 不可能的。
②英语中常见的否定前缀有:
A. dis-表示“分开,分离;不”。
like 喜欢→dislike 不喜欢;agree 同意→disagree 不同意
B. in-(im-, ir-)表示“不,无”。
possible 可能的→impossible 不可能的;
polite 礼貌的→impolite 不礼貌的
C. un-表示“不,非”。
able 有能力的→unable 无能力的;like 像→unlike 不像;
crowded 拥挤的→uncrowded 不拥挤的;
happy 高兴的→unhappy 不高兴的;
healthy 健康的→unhealthy 不健康的
3. convenient 方便的;便利的
convenient 形容词,意为“方便的;便利的”,常用于句型“It’s convenient
for sb. to do sth.”中,意为“对于某人来说做某事是方便的”。
e.g. It’s convenient for us to do that. 那样做对我们来说是很方便的。
【拓展】convenience 是convenient的名词形式,既可作可数名词,又可
作不可数名词,意为“方便,便利;有益,有用的设施”等。
e.g. I keep my books near my desk for convenience. 为了方便,我把书放
在桌子旁。
The house has all the modern conveniences. 这所房子里有所有的现代化
的便利设施。
4. safe 安全的
safe 形容词,意为“安全的”,常用作表语。be safe后面一般接动词不
定式,常构成句型:
It’s (not) safe to do sth. 意为“做某事是(不)安全的”;safe from 后接
表示“危险、危害”等的名词,意为“不会受到……的伤害”。
e.g. It’s not safe to swim alone in the river. 独自在这条河里游泳是不安全的。
You will be safe from danger at home with your parents. 和父母一起待在
家你就不会有危险。
