be made of 意为“由……制成的”,指从成品中可以看出原材料 The bridge is made of stone.桥是石头造的。

2. 词语辨析
be known for 意为“因……而著名”,for表原因,其后跟表示某个人或物的特长、特点的词。 Hangzhou is known for West Lake.杭州因西湖而闻名。
be known as 意为“以……而知名”,as后多跟表示某个人的身份、职业的名词 He is known as a singer.他以歌手而知名。
be known to 意为“对……而言是著名的” The Great Wall is known to the people around the world.长城对于全世界的人们而言是著名的。

as far as I know 意为“据我所知”。其中as far as 作从属连词,意为
“就……来说”,引导状语从句,强调程度或范围,从句中常用动
词know, see 等,也可用so far as。
e.g. As far as I know, he has been abroad. 据我所知,他已经出国了。
grow 此处为及物动词,意为“种植,栽培”。其过去式为grew,过
去分词为grown。
e.g. They’re growing rice. 他们正在种植水稻。
【拓展】
(1)grow 还可作不及物动词,意为“生长;长成”。
常用短语: grow up 长大,成长。
e.g. I want to be a teacher when I grow up. 长大后我想当一名教师。
(2)on the sides of mountains 意为“在山腰上”。
e.g. There are many flowers on the sides of mountains. 山腰有许多花。
