Given that many peop ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )le's moods (情绪) are regulated by the chemical action of chocolate, it was probably only a matter of time before somebody made the chocolate shop similar to a drugstore of Chinese medicine. Looking like a setting from the film Charlie& the Chocolate Factory, Singapore's Chocolate Research Facility (CRF) has over 100 varieties of chocolates. its founder is Chris Lee who grew up at his parents' corner store with one hand almost always in the jar of sweets.
If the CRF ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )seems to be a smart idea, that's because Lee is not merely a seasoned salesperson but also head of a marketing department that has business relations with big names such as Levi's and Sony. That idea surely results in the imagination at work when it comes to making different flavored (味道) chocolates.
The CRF's ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )produce is "green" made within the country and divided into 10 lines, with the Alcohol Series being the most popular. The Exotic Series一with Sichuan pepper, red bean (豆), cheese and other flavors一also does well and is fun to taste. And for chocolate snobs, who think that they have a better knowledge of chocolate than others, the Connoisseur Series uses cocoa beans from Togo, Cuba, Venezuela , and Ghana, among others.
21. What is good about chocolate
A.It serves as a su ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )itable gift. B.It works as an effective medicine.
C.It helps improve ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )the state of mind. D.It strengthens business relations.
22. Why is Chris Lee able to develop his idea of the CRF
A.He knows the im ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )portance of research. B.He learns from shops of similar types.
C.He has the support ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) of many big names D.He has a lot of marketing experience
23. Which line of the CRF produce sells best
A.The Connoisseur Series. B.The Exotic Series.
C.The Alcohol Series. D.The Sichuan Series.
24.The words "choc ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )olate snobs" in Paragraph 3 probably refer to people who
A.are particular ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com ) about chocolate B.know little about cocoa beans

B
Grown-ups ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )are often surprised by how well they remember something they learned as children but have never practiced ever since. A man who has not had a chance to go swimming for years can still swim as well as ever when he gets back in the water. He can get on a bicycle after many years and still ride away. He can play catch and hit a ball as well as his son. A mother who has not thought about the words for years can teach her daughter the poem that begins "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" or remember the story of Cinderella or Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
One explanation is the law of over-learning, which can be stated as follows: Once we have learned something, additional learning trials increase the length of time we will remember it.
In childhood w ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )e usually continue to practice such skills as swimming, bicycle riding, and playing baseball long after we have learned them. We continue to listen to and remind ourselves of words such as "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" and childhood tales such as Cinderella and Goldilocks. We not only learn but over-learn.
The multiplicatio ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )n tables (乘法口诀表) are an exception to the general rule, that we forget rather quickly the things that we learn in school, because they are another of the things we over-learn in childhood. The law of over-learning explains why cramming (突击学习) for an examination, though it may result in a passing grade, is not a satisfactory way to learn a college course. By cramming, a student may learn the subject well enough to get by on the examination, but he is likely soon to forget almost everything he learned. A little over-learning, on the other hand, is really necessary for one's future development
25. What’ s the main idea of Paragraph 1
A.Children have a better memory than grown-ups.
B.People remember well what they learned in childhood.
C.Poem reading is a good way to learn words.

C.a skill to dea ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )l with math problems D.a basic step towards advanced studies
27. What is the author's opinion on cramming
A.It leads to failure in college exams.
B.It increases students' learning interest.
C.It's possible to result in poor memory.
D.It's helpful only in a limited way

Science can't ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )explain the power of pets, but many studies have shown that the company of pets can help lower blood pressure and raise chances of recovering from a heart attack, reduce loneliness and spread all-round good cheer.
Any owner will ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )tell you how much joy a pet brings. For some, an animal provides more comfort than a husband/wife. A 2002 study by Karen Allen of the State University of New York measured stress (紧张) levels and blood pressure in people—half of the pet owners—while they performed 5 minutes of mental arithmetic (心算) or held a hand in ice water. Subjects completed the tasks alone, with a husband/wife, a close friend or with a pet. People with pets did it best. Those tested with their animal friends had smaller change in blood pressure and returned most quick to base line heart rates. With pets in the room, people also made fewer math mistakes than when doing in front of other companions. It seems people feel more relaxed around pets, says Allen, who thinks it may be because pets don't judge.
A study reported last fall suggests that having a pet dog not only raises your spirits but may also have an effect on your eating habits. Researchers at Northwestern Memorial Hospital spent a year studying 36 fat people and their equally fat dogs on diet-and-exercise programs; a separate group of 56 people without pets were put on a diet program. On average, people lost about 11 pounds, or 5% of their body weight. Dog owners didn't lose any more weight than those without dogs but, say researchers, got more exercise overall—mostly with their dogs—and found it worth doing.

A.what students learned at school B.people that were studied
C.those who had pets with them D.those people without pets

well if _____.
A. he has a pet companion B. he has less stress of work
C. he often does m ( http: / / www.21cnjy.com )ental arithmetic D. he is taken care of by his family

stressful tasks

C. They are less nervous. D. They are in higher spirits.
31. The research mentioned in the last paragraph reports that _____.
